Inner space launcher error code -8

Hi guys,

Im trying to install and use IS for wow and receive the "Inner space launcher error code -8" ?!

I can launch the game (and all characters) manually but do not get the split screens by ISboxer. As I have several file locations for the game launchers (and added games to IS list), could that be the reason?

Re: Inner space launcher error code -8

No, you can have many installs and have Inner Space point to them. They are differentiated by Name, so you wont be able to have two named the same in the Inner Space game profiles.

I don't know what Error Code -8 is, but when you launch your team you (we) might be able to get some kind of inkling as to what is going on, by right clicking the Inner Space icon in the system tray, and selecting Console.

You can copy the console data as per the instructions here.. http://isboxer.com/wiki/Console

Re: Inner space launcher error code -8

Well that seems to be missing a bunch of info, like the executable filename/path, although that might only show up on successful execution. Inner Space can only launch executable files, whether exe, bin, dll. It cannot launch cmd/bat/or other file types.

The other choice may be some other piece of software interfering. Perhaps a diagnostic is needed.

I'm having to guess until I find out what a -8 refers to :).

Re: Inner space launcher error code -8

My suggestions are:
  • Right click the Inner Space icon, select Configuration and make sure the "Use same-bit game clients if possible..." open is not selected (remove the red dot).
  • You may also find you need to remove the option "Use 64-bit Inner Space Uplink" option too.
  • Remove AVG as a test. It is hooking the game, and can interfere.
  • Remove the HIGHDPIAWARE compatibility option from the executable (either regedit or from the properties of executable).
Code:
Application Compatibility flags under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers:
0 E:\Games\WoW-Mania-2.0.5b\wow.exe: HIGHDPIAWARE

If that doesn't work, you will be SOL really unless you are going to multibox on Blizzard servers.

Re: Inner space launcher error code -8

Inner Space is unable to access the memory of the launched process. My first thought is it is likely being blocked from doing so by security/AV software, so I am on board with bob's suggestion of removing AVG to see if that helps.
