dxNothing has stopped working

Good morning,

Today, when I am launching a dxNothing session, I immediate receive this error:

dxNothing.exe has stopped working

This error occurs if I try launching a character set containing a dxNothing character, just the dxNothing character or if I try launching a 'dxNothing' game with the dxNothing Default Profile.

I can run the dxNothing executable outside of ISBoxer and it will launch a small black window with no errors.

This is the first time I have encountered this error. I did notice a new patch (6202?) today, but I am not sure if they are connected. I rebooted my machine, same results. It has worked for me with no issues up through and including last night, but I am not sure what else to check.

Thoughts?

Re: dxNothing has stopped working

Please get me Diagnostics for game crashes from a running dxnothing.exe.

What version of Windows are you using?

Re: dxNothing has stopped working

Okay. I have no problems launching dxNothing on Windows 7 64.

Most likely, one of the other programs running on your system has an incompatibility with Inner Space -- a new issue since the recent changes. To solve it, we want to identify the culprit so I can take a closer look.

For starters, shut off Raptr and CCC. Raptr is known to cause some issues while multiboxing with ISBoxer, typically framerate/performance issues. If it's neither of those, AVG comes next -- you might have to temporarily uninstall it to make sure this is fully shut down (it can be reinstalled after you rule it out; I don't know of any current issues with AVG). Anything else you can shut down might help as well..

If I had to guess, I might point at SLSTaskbarHook, which is part of CCC. I don't normally see this in peoples diagnostics even when they use CCC, so I assume it's related to a custom setting.

Re: dxNothing has stopped working

You earlier suggestions were on the mark of course. There are two scenarios on my computer causing this behavior:

When 'raptr.exe' is running then the dxNothing session stops working.

When 'SLSTaskbar.exe' is running the dxNothing session stops working.

I tested the scenarios where there are running separately or together, with and without AVG as well as with or without CCC/MOM, but it boiled down to those two processes causing my headaches. Now that I know what is causing the behavior I can work around it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond back to my issue, I do appreciate it very much!

Very good, thank you for the details. I will work on duplicating the issue with this information :)
