Very random load screen freezing

Hello all.

Until very recently (roughly when ROS officially came out), multiboxing has been very smooth for me.

However, I'm now experiencing a lot of random freezing from either 1 or 2 of the clients. It's not always the same clients either - sometimes it's just #3, other times it might be #1 and #2.

Also of note is that the freezing doesn't always happen. It might happen when a character is being selected, in the party that I create loading into the game session, or even exiting the game itself.

It's really frustrating!!

I have create several different file dumps in the hopes that some useful information can be extracted.

Please excuse my newbieness, but I'm not sure how to use that Private Paste site to upload the dumps. I managed to upload the file - I think - and it results in a file that I download, but when I try to view the file like https://www.privatepaste.com/becb016554, it says it's Expired.

Could it be because I multiboxed during the PTR and it somehow corrupted everything? I've recreated the ISBoxer D3 profile, I've even tried the ATI beta drivers, but neither of them helped. I'm at my wits end on this.

Re: Very random load screen freezing

You can't upload dump files to privatepaste and the video on the diagnostics page tells you to send the dump files to Lax directly at lax@lavishsoft.com.

Although, you may want to see if you have any bottlenecks in your system now that RoS is out.

Re: Very random load screen freezing

Hello MiRai, thank you for the quick reply.

I've just sent 4 dmp files to Lax, hoping now for a quick solution to this.

I've been also monitoring the loads on my GPU, CPU and memory, but have haven't noticed anything unusual so far.

I've attached a report. You might see something that I don't.

I should also add that when the screen freeze occurs, I usually have to wait about a minute or so before the Network Disconnect message appears. I can then press OK and resume the game and rejoin the same party. Dunno if this helps or not.

Re: Very random load screen freezing

This line shows that your GPU is at 100% (first number is the current value, middle number is the minimum value, and the third number is the max value).

Code:
+- GPU Core       :      100        0      100 (/atigpu/0/load/0)

Seeing this, I would assume you're pushing your GPU too hard and it's causing game clients to crash.

Re: Very random load screen freezing

From what I was told, it's normal for the GPU clock to jump up and down the way it is. Even now, with 4 monks standing still in the Halls of Agony, the GPU load is jumping around from 42% to 97% to 8% to 100%.

I had a 4970x2 before the R9 290x, and that card never jumped around like this before. In fact, it jumps around in all the games I've been playing. See the attachment - the line is jumping everywhere. The GPU clock goes anywhere from 934MHz to 1000+. I don't overclock anything, and the max on this particular card is 1030MHz.

For the sake of testing, however, I guess I can reduce the resolution down from 2560x1440 (windowed fullscreen mode) ;)

Never mind, didn't help.
2 of the clients froze. and the resolution is 1600x9 (fullscreen) on all of the clients ...

I don't know who told you that such erratic load is "normal," but I assure you it isn't. Clock speed can move around, that's normal, but clock speed and load are two different things.

Here's a 15 minute session of 5 World of Warcraft clients (@ 60/30 1920x1080) in an instance using very, very high video settings with added SweetFX: http://i.imgur.com/qIJPsGM.png

The load stays right around 40-60% without any erratic behavior. The highest peak that is shown in the image (where the GPUs hit 80%) is right when I entered the game world.

Here's a 15 minute session of 4 Diablo III clients (@ 60/60 1920x1080) using max video settings with added SweetFX: http://i.imgur.com/5gEgeKD.png

Again, the biggest spike is right as I enter the game world, then everything smooths out. The dip near the end is when I teleported back to camp and then exited the game clients shortly after.

Where did you change the resolution? In the game client or in ISBoxer? Did you create an entirely new Window Layout to reflect the new resolution? If not, then it's unlikely that you were running at 1600x900 because, by default, ISBoxer forces the resolution that's set to Region 1 of your Window Layout.
