Noob Help - Eve Online

Hi, I just started using the program a couple hours ago so please forgive me if I'm asking redundant questions that have already been answered - I'm not overly familiar with ISboxer terminology so I'm not always sure what specifically to search for. This may actually be more a Video Feed question but I think it relates to layouts as well, at least for how to set up for what I'm trying to do.

Anyway, I've got 5 accounts for EVE. What I want to do is mostly covered by the Layout Wizard: I want one client fullscreen on my main monitor, mini displays for all clients lined up along the left side my my secondary monitor, and the rest of the secondary monitor is a DXnothing window for video feeds.

However, if I run a video feed from one of the small displays to the DXnothing window, it's super low res and I can't make out anything on it.

So I've come to the conclusion that I need a fullscreen stack layout:

Image

Regions 1-5 (my actual clients) are stacked on the left, region 6 is DXnothing on the right, and in between, well, that's what I need to figure out.

What I want to do with this, is have the client I'm currently using be displayed on the left. I ALSO want the mini displays (7-11) to show what's happening on all the clients, AND when I click on one I want it to bring that client fullscreen to the top of the stack, as if they were swapping. Meanwhile video feeds will be going from regions 2-5 onto my DXnothing region 6. (region 1 will normally be what I'm looking at all the time, so no feed from it needed). These feeds need to be as high-res as possible so I can read text on them, hence why normal swap layout won't work.

Basically: how do I make regions 7-11 display 1-5 AND bring 1-5 to the top when I click on one of them?

Apologies if that made absolutely no sense =)

Re: Noob Help - Eve Online

You are right that this is a Video FX question in this case. :) In fact, the remainder of what you want is pretty much covered by the Video FX demonstration videos, so if you need help after my explanation, you can probably just follow the Video FX demonstrations.

What I want to do with this, is have the client I'm currently using be displayed on the left. I ALSO want the mini displays (7-11) to show what's happening on all the clients, AND when I click on one I want it to bring that client fullscreen to the top of the stack, as if they were swapping.

You've got Full Screen Stacked on the left and dxNothing on the right, that's the first 90%. The 7-11 will be Video FX Viewers in dxNothing, which should fill all of that screen.

In the dxNothing window, open up the ISBoxer Control Panel (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+G) and select the Video FX tab. In the top drop-down box you will want to select Video FX Viewer. Then there's a Name box, with another drop-down box above it that's pre-populated with the Names of existing Video FX Sources. You can select is1, is2, is3, is4, and so on from this drop-down box to create a Video FX Viewer for each window. From your screenshot and description, Region 7 will instead be a Video FX view of is1, Region 8 of is2, 9 of is3, 10 from is4, and 11 from is5.

When you create your Video FX Views, you will need to bring up the Video FX Editor to enable the swapping behavior you want. To do that, click on the Video FX Viewer while the Control Panel is still up, and it will pop up another little window with some editing properties. To click on it to bring a window to the front, you want to enable the Video FX Focus Hotkey option in this editor box. The Hotkey is configurable in your Character Set, but by default it is Alt+Mouse1.

After configuring all of your Video FX, use the "Save as" button in the ISBoxer Control Panel (in the Video FX tab still). If you save as "Auto" (which is there by default) it will load up for you when you load your team; if you save as anything else, you will need to manually load it using the ISBoxer Control Panel or a Video FX Action.

That should pretty much cover it. :)

Re: Noob Help - Eve Online

Thanks for the advice! I've got most everything working now, however there are a couple more probs I'm having.

Here is my window layout now:

Basically what I'm doing is using 5 toons to run around gathering a bunch of Faction warfare missions for my mains to run later. I've got myself set up in such a way that I can request a mission on all 5 at once, and see all the mission descriptions simultaneously so I can read all the mission descriptions and decide whether or not to take them.

The next thing I want to do is set up repeater regions on the four bigger displays to the right, which are video feeds of the central area of each client window where the mission descriptions appear. I want to be able to mouse over each of these screens and either his the "accept" or "decline" button for each client's mission.

However, when I set up the repeater region on one of the feeds, the locations of the in-game mouse cursor and my actual mouse cursor are heavily desynced, as crudely illustrated here:
Image

The cursors move at different speeds; if I move my mouse from top to bottom on this video feed, the in-game cursor moves from top to bottom of the entire client window, instead of just the area inside the repeater region.

How do I fix that?

One last thing: when I want to do something on my DXnothing window, I have to click on it first, then alt-click to focus one of my mini displays, or whatever. Is there a way to make the DXnothing window focus on mouseover instead of having to click first?

Re: Noob Help - Eve Online

I think I figured out the repeater region thing by putting an identically-named repeater region into each relevant main client window. Well, mostly anyway. I can't seem to get the repeater windows in the same size/position on both screens so the cursors are still desynced some -- enough to cause me to misclick quite a bit. Is there any way to perfectly synchronize them?

Re: Noob Help - Eve Online

OK I've gotten the repeaters closely enough synced that I at least don't miss clicks on their windows. My only real issue now is having to click to focus on the DXnothing screen before doing stuff on it, but really that's an incredibly minor inconvenience against a LOT of saved mouseclicks elsewhere.

My next challenge will be building some missioning and PVP setups!

I'm very impressed with the versatility of this program so far, good stuff =)

Re: Noob Help - Eve Online

Hi everyone

i have a similar problem and ofc i'm a total noob with programms like this, so sry

i have also 5 accounts in eve i wanna use with this great software. When i set up my windows i made it like above so 1-5 (mains) on the left screen 6 (dxnothing) and 7-11 in the center. When i start the group i do have the 5 main windows on the left (sometimes the swap to the right) and i do have the blank dxnothing on the right (which sometimes swap to the left) but i do have a gap between them where #7-11 should be. What's the problem or in other words what i'm making wrong?

I read on your description that i have to set the "Game" and "Game Profile" options and to tick the box "Video FX viewers stay....." for my dxNothing char but do i have to set the option between those to "eve" or leave it to "others"?

i hope i could explain what problem i'm facing if not let me know

thx in advance
