Professions

Hello all,

do you make professions with your Teams? I only dual-boxing, and think it is a good idea to learn professions for my two characters.

I don't know if it really possible to do Herbalism or Mining professions with the toon.
Because, if I don't remember wrong, then these objects are not target-able.

But I think, the most professions which create items like "Alchemy, Enchanting, etc..." will be not a problem. And skinning is target-able, so that will don't be a problem for toons.

What experience you made with it?
Any tipps or configs for professions?

Re: Professions

I run a team of five on two monitors (main on one, four on other monitor.) My main tank has JC and BS since they have the most flexible profession bonuses. On the two toons closest to the main monitor I have mining/enchanting on one and herbalism/skinning on the other. This allows me to have 'find minerals' and 'find herbs' up at the same time on the minimaps closest to my main window. Using 'focus follows mouse' I can quickly fly in with my team, land, then move the mouse to the appropriate window to click on the node.

Re: Professions

If you're using Windows Vista or later, with Aero enabled, you can use Video FX (formerly Video Feeds) to put whichever minimaps you need for gathering next to each other in your current window.

Re: Professions

I'm pretty meticulous when it comes to my characters and I really like them to be as close as they can to each other in XP, just for the
fact that it looks cool when they all ding at the same time. Now that Blizzard has introduced gaining XP from gathering professions, it
takes their XP out of sync and drives me crazy, so I skip professions while leveling. I do have the financial backing on my server though
that I don't need the extra gold I can get through gathering and leveling.

If you were starting out fresh though and needed the extra gold I would choose any gathering profession(s) that could easily be leveled
as you progress through the zones. Might want to balance those professions between your characters though or else one will end up
being farther ahead of the rest which could potentially affect which quests they can all accept as a group later down the line. For
example, down the line your main is level 64 when your slave(s) are level 60 which would mess up XP gained in the group and which quests the main could grab versus the slave(s).

Re: Professions

I like to have Alchemy on every toon that is or will be 75+.
Purely for the transmutes, as a passive income.

When leveling, I like each gathering skill on the team.
But honestly, I don't use them often once a team has leveled.

I recently added Engineering to the DK's on my 4x DK + 1x Pally team.

I like to have Enchanting on one toon, per team.
Purely so if they do heroics, I have the option to disenchant.
