Wow 5 boxing

Hey guys,

I'm trying to setup a 5 box world of warcraft team consisting of;

Tank: Warrior
Heal: Priest
Alt Heal / Dps: Shaman
Dps: Rogue
Dps: Warlock

I've gotten the following under control, video FX as a window layout, I got click bars setup for heals, shield, hot, one click buffs, very smooth in a transparent overlay just ontop of my party frames with mouseover targeting. Works FLAWLESSLY, very smooth! Following, break follow, assist, IWT (Melee) IWT for All (quests, loots, skinning) works aswell.

As a beginner my character set might not be what many would go after but I figured since I'm just gonna go dungeon crawling one hours or so per day, limited gametime, I am a father so I gotta be with the family aswell.
The things I'm having issues with is basically setting up a "basic" attack rotation for my toons which I can work with over time, my characters are as of now level 15, waiting to beat the shit out of their first instance.

PROBLEMS I'm facing:
1. Flame shock, how do I delay this one not putting up everytime I press 1?
2. Warlocks DoTs, Shadow bolt, Drain Life, Life Tap, Any advice on setting this up?
3. Basic Rogue rotation? 5xSinister strike -> Eviscerate or whatever, but how? Any advice?
4. Lastly, Warrior Heroic Strike.

Let's say I press 1 to execute my normal DPS rotation;
Warrior: Heroic Strike
Warlock: Immolate, Corruption (these just get spammed) <- Very bad!
Shaman: Flame Shock <- Gets spammed aswell, no reason for it to do so, but I can for the love of it not figure it out. I tried /castsequence reset=combat/target Flame Shock,Null (Worked to some extend, but lowers my DPS)
Rogue: Sinister Strike spam, every so often eviscerate

This above leaves me on my warrior Rage less, I cant never do Thunder clap or similar, which I do really want to use occassionally when I need to.
Warlock has no mana left and very poor damage
Shaman just spams Flame shock, runs out of mana quickly.

Can someone more experience show me how I could be setting up my rotation so I could begin experimenting inside a dungeon.
How do you utilize Shaman, Warlocks, Rogue, Warrior in a multibox session?

If anyone are able to share some insight with me, possible show me or have a profile sent that I can look at - It would mean the world to me as I can then begin playing, instead of searching everywhere for an answer I don't even know the question to.
I'm willing to "donate" some funds too, even. For abit of help.

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
-D

Re: Wow 5 boxing

I created a video to help show how to create complex rotations. It's certainly not an exact science, and you'll need to figure out what works best for you and the classes that you play.

Re: Wow 5 boxing

Hi mirai,

I know how to build a rotation using the pro system,
For exemple IF I press 1 everyone does The dps rotation IF I mapped it to one.
However, as i said im having trouble setting up a rotation that works so Im asking for help from someone morse experienced so I can get started
I cant figure it out.

Its no problem setting it up for a tank and 4 shamans but thats no fun.

I want something basic for Warrior, Rogue, Warlock

Re: Wow 5 boxing

As an example, this guys rotation is looking pretty solid, makes it look very easy for him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLlzusP ... 0I&index=4

I just cant figure out how to utilize a dps rotation using a mixed team, that's really what I'm looking for, a sample I can begin using and build upon myself.

- How to use dots, shocks and procs for example
- How to use the warrior tank in the dps rotation?
- how to setup the rogue for decent dps, in the rotation.
- how to setup the warlock in the dps rotation.

I'm willing to pay, just so I can get started. I have very limited gametime and I'm pretty confident I can adjust something if I get a template to go on.
Anyone willing to help?

Thanks in advance

Re: Wow 5 boxing

The only way I know how to set up DPS rotations is as follows:

1) Use a /castsequence macro
2) Spam key bindings
3) Combine 1 & 2 if necessary

This is exactly what is covered in the video that I linked, but another piece of advice that I can offer is that you should expect to have several keys for different DPS rotations, each for different situations. Also, if you're gauging how much DPS your classes put out based upon content that isn't the current-level expansion (e.g. 90-100), then you are going to get numbers that don't make any sense, and are likely going to change drastically throughout the leveling process.

Re: Wow 5 boxing

And; know your class. If you are looking for the best rotation for a class, this board generally doesn't have that kind of info, because....., it just doesn't. You normally find that on the various WoW forums, or my favourite, by using Google.

Re: Wow 5 boxing

Thanks for the information, i appreciate it!

I suppose using more keys before getting to the spam dps rotation.
Something I figured out that might work for exemple:
1. Charge, rogue does stealth -> second press melee IWT
2. Dots and shocks? Maybe something else
3. Damage rotation

Somehow just doesnt seem right, must be a more effective way using keybinds?

Mirai, what you said about having different keys for different situation. Do you use different keys om just a toggle?

Its not like I cant learn on my own, its just that I dont have enough time per day to really get in to it.

Best regards.

Are you familiar with castsequence macros? If you use a castsequence macro you don't have to keep spamming a single dot over and over and over. Again, this is touched on in the video I linked above showing how I set up the Mage with, what I refer to as, a "hybrid" setup. I explicitly demonstrate why you can't use the "spam all keys" method when using the Mage, and the Warlock is going to work the exact same way. However, I've never set up a Warlock beyond level 20 (I think?), so I don't have much experience with them.

Unfortunately, I'm not the super-ultra multiboxer that YouTube may make me out to be ;), and I've never hit a wall that needed to be overcome with more than just a single-target, and AoE rotation.

Re: Wow 5 boxing

I think I just managed to setup a quite decent dps rotation using castsequence macros inside of Isboxer, following instructions above and watched your video a couple of times so now I got something basic that has to be improved upon but its a start.

However, now to another problem I just discovered and I just cant seem to find information about this or I'm just looking in the wrong sections. I followed this guide to setup grid bars with healing:
http://isboxer.com/multiboxing/guide/49 ... -emulation)

Everything works flawlessly if I invite my characters in my order as I want it to, but sometimes, I forget doing this or for whatever reason using the LFD rearranges my team. So to my question;

How do I tackle this? is there a way to use it more effectively? It's a mouseover target slot 1 click bar button 1.
So if I invite my team in the following, the same is setup in Isboxer;
Warrior
Priest
Shaman
Rogue
Warlock

If setup above, works just fine because slot 1 would be the Warrior, but everything gets screwed up if the party ends up like this
Warrior
Shaman
Priest
Rogue
Warlock

How do I fix this? Is there a UI addon that forces certain party order even if you invite them differently, or how do you use it? Am I forced to use a solid party order and neglect the LFD thing?

Thanks

Re: Wow 5 boxing

That guide was written more for the non WoW players, I've never tested it on WoW myself, although I've been told it does work. WoW has rather many options that can be used instead, and as I put in the top of that guide, that it was to emulate MiRai's WoW setup of Grid/Clique (and a bit of VideoFX), which it does a reasonable job of.

Anyway, because the buttons are fixed group position targeting, and there is no way for ISBoxer to know what your party order is, then you either have to use a consistent party order, or..... well there is no other option. Unfortunately it sounds like you have a forgetful memory, which you can alleviate by setting up an invite mapped key/macro that will do the correct order for you every time, and try and make sure it is the same order that the game will set during LFD (no idea what this is), or a Raid (I found LOTRO will reorder a team in a Raid and it really screws things up, so I start a new team, put them in a raid, and then use that as my party order - problem solved).

I did look into setting up a menu system so you could alter your party order once you loaded your team, but, while it works, it got rather complicated, and really needed a bit of scripting behind it to make it really shine (and some graphic design would have been good too).

I think you can modify Grid (and probably other party frame addons) to force a party order (like alphabetical?) if you modify the LUA behind it, but that wont change the games party order, and that is what you are fighting.
