Caster issues

Hi all,

I have some questions about WoW and keymapping and how to deal with stuff.

Now, what I want to do over the next three months is level up my second account with alts so they can actually grant levels into my main. All good so far.

I sort of figured out in a very brutish way how to do that with a DeathKnight and so far, I am mainly using insta range casts which is not good.
I tried with priests and is going....okayish. I stumble into issues, tweak the settings and kinda can go off from there.

Now, I would like to ask some questions which I need to resolve and cant seem to: a)figure out how b) find information anywhere (B is probably because I do not know what am I looking for)

NB! If my questions need to be in separate threads or I am asking something that is not to be asked, please scold me.

Questions:

1. What is the difference between Keymaps - Non Combat and WOW Non Combat etc? Where exactly should I be putting my keymaps?

1.1 - I have questions about making good macros, ability rotations etc but I need to research this one my own. Still, if any knows of a few good places to start me off - awesome.

2. With Melee characters I figured how to deal with the face character and Go Fight and Turn or Accept quests.
I set up my CTM and use a keybind key that instructs to Interact With Target
How do I do that with casters?

I plan on leveling my priests now, then I wanna go with Mage and Shaman and in the end, maybe a ranger.
I use Jamba as well as ISBoxer - through jamba and searches for jamba issues, I found ISBoxer.
I am not sure how good of an idea it is, or how to set it up so the two work together well. I do get issues from time to time which is expected.

The problem though is my casters. Unless I position them somehow (direct input on the other computers or moving around a bit so they are behind me) I cant make them face the target, turn around etc. I saw there can be keys for Turn Right etc - but I think this is not a very good option seen that it means going through each screen to see at which direction ...you get my point.

3. Any easier way to deal with gathering quests? The quests they send you off to gather stuff by clicking them ( I think that borders with automation that is not okay in my eyes and especially here but I am not sure, so I ask the question)

If there are better ways for any of my above setups, please do share oh almighty MultiBoxers. I am all ears. Deffinitely love ISBoxer and will be a thing for me to use for many months ahead, I wanna start right and well really.

Thank you

Ummm not much. Basically it means that you ran the Quick Setup Wizard multiple times, and on at least one time you selected different options for some of the settings which were incompatible with your previously selected settings. ISBoxer would then have popped up the following message (well very similar):
Image
And you went with the default option, so ISBoxer created a second set of Key Maps, and assigned that second set to your new team, while leaving the previously created Key Maps to your already existing team.

I suggest you should select the 2nd or 3rd option, or don't set different values to your previous setup for the Hotkeys/Game Keybinds during the Quick Setup Wizard.
If you haven't changed much beyond the basic setup, you can use File -> Clear and setup afresh. If you have gotten beyond that, then you can delete the extra Key Maps which you don't want (select them, press DEL), and just make sure the ones you keep are assigned to your Character Sets (you can do this by selecting the Character Sets in the top left, select Key Maps in the lower left, and then highlight the Key Maps for initial assignment to the Character Set).

I don't have a specific answer to this one. Some characters are just a PITA and wont turn. You might get better results for the Face Target mapped key if you hold it down for longer than you normally would. Some toons just wont face though. The problematic ones are usually Wand holders. For these you usually need to line them up first, drop them off, and then run in with the tank and use the tank to ensure the casters are facing correctly. Hopefully someone else has a better suggestion :).

They generally play nice AFAIK, provided you are playing retail anyway. Failing that Ebony tends to hang out in the ISBoxer chatroom, and responds here too, but I think dual-boxing.com is the haunt of choice for JAMBA.

Sometimes you do need to be able to move all the slaves without the main.

The choices usually are
  1. Click on item (or select nearest item if the game has a hotkey for it), Assist, Use (I tend to round robin Use, because some games don't like lots of characters using the same item at once)
  2. Use the Interact With Target Mapped Key (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t_ctkO7SFc#t=92 <-- this video covers a variety of things applicable to WOW and questing)
  3. Have all the views lined up nicely and broadcast the mouse click
  4. Cycle through each screen and do the appropriate action. Using multi-PC would make this annoying though.

Re: Caster issues

Thank you.
I will start digging in and reading asap. That is just the summarized information I was looking for!

Just 1 follow up - You say, Wand Holders are problematic. Is that because they hold a wand as a weapon or just in general you meant casters? Meaning, if general, this would apply to all caster or ranged classes then - priest, shaman, ranger, mage.

It means, that before the Cataclysm expansion several classes had extra slots on their character sheet where they could equip things... like wands, or ammo, or whatever else. Ranged classes which once used such slots now have a difficult time with IWT+CTM when in a certain range of a target which can be interacted with.

Got it. Now that I think of it, rather silly question on my end.

Great! Again, thank you for your time and answer!
