Minor character syncing issues

I have been noticing some interesting behaviour between character sets, and was just looking to get some input from folks to see if there was anything else I could do to improve character syncing.
I currently play 4x witch doctors, and 4x demon hunters. On the witch doctors I have to work quite hard keeping the team together. Often they break apart, or 1 random team member will suddenly stop following (interestingly I noticed this often tied in with a paragon level coming in). The demon hunters on the other hand, are much more fluid. Team management for the most part requires very little effort.
Ive read through the article on character sync management (so run speed is all the same, lower resolution (1920x1200), graphics fx all turned off), I was wondering if the extra pet action on the WD's were perhaps causing some lag between the characters because of the extra graphics processing? The WD spells are much more "graphically present" than the hunters, I dont really have another explanation, but just throwing this out there for comments.
Is there anything else I could look to tweaking to perhaps improve performance?
