Back after 3 years - anyone want to catch me up on changes?

I've been away from WoW since mid-2011 and just resubbed & re-upped my IS registration. I'd like to start 5-boxing again but wanted to see if there are any substantial changes since I last played. Looks like IS saved my old configurations but not sure if they're of any use.

I'm aware there's no more /follow in BGs. Mostly interested in doing instance runs.

Previously I used a lot of what Ualaa posted to set up my teams.

Current teams are 5 man mixed (Pal, Druid, Mage, Shaman, Lock) and Shaman/ 4DK. I've got a bunch of 60-ish characters too, enough to do full teams of locks, shamans, mages & paladins. I'll probably level some of those up too.

Any advice on getting set up and playing quickly would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would back up your old profiles, then check out the new MMO - Pro configuration style, especially for your mixed class or spec team(s). It is the best. Watch my video on the page ;)

They removed follow from battlegrounds.
So BG based pvp is dead, although you can still world pvp or do arena based pvp.

PvE should be similar to how it was.
Each new expansion is new zones, but it is also bigger numbers for health and damage.

They implemented a dungeon finder and a raid finder, which are cross server.

Re: Back after 3 years - anyone want to catch me up on changes?

Thanks all for the help. Still getting things set up but I've done a few successful BC instance runs with a 2-class team (Resto Druid, Bear Druid, 3 Arc Mages). The MMO pro option in the wizard was easy to get setup.

I'm having some bad (unplayable) lag issues when not in instances. I know this isn't an ISBoxer issue but any thoughts on the most common bottlenecks? My PC is almost 4 years old but was pretty good when I built it. Here are basic specs if anyone wants to suggest upgrades or maintenance. This same setup used to run 5 instances of WoW no problem with multiple browser windows, Excel etc all running in the background. Consistently seeing ~90ms latency on the WoW meter with all 5 running.

I notice each instance of WoW is wanting to use ~1GB RAM, wonder if memory isn't the issue for me.

No offense, but looking at your list of hardware (and knowing how old it is), I'd say it's definitely time for an upgrade. You can follow the steps listed here to see which component is the biggest bottleneck:

Feel free to start a new hardware-related topic in the hardware forum if you'd like.

Cool, thanks very much. No offense taken, it's just a box.
