TDR/Framerate issues since RoS
Michael G. Here with need of dire help! When RoS was released I began to experience drops in Framerate and random screen freezes (hitting windows key would reset the box that froze).
Recently I began to get TDR errors leaving me on the dark for 5 seconds while my GPU reset . Which is very scary since I multibox on hardcore. This has happened inside of rifts, in town, even salvaging at the blacksmith.
Here is my setup:
Toshiba 32 inch television (I use the HDMI port)
Asus z87 deluxe mobo
Intel i7 4770k -4.2ghz 10mb cache (liquid cooled)
EVGA GTX780 - 3gb (runs at 45 degrees or less)
18 gigs of ram
I use 2 Solid State Drives; 1 has windows/all aplications..the 2nd one is strictly for Diablo 3
Corsair 650watt single rail PSU. (I heard having multiple rails isn't good)
Now for the troubleshooting Ive done:
I've check the bottlenecks and nothing is anywhere near 50%
Ive lowered the settings to performance on EVERYTHING
-nvidia controls lowers to performance over quality
-ditched Aero windows and unchecked very box
-diablo 3 runs low everything, unchecked vsync etc.
-admin tools>power options>display (off)
-I've tried older drivers and newer drivers. Tried to uninstall 3D nvidia drivers even the HD audio drivers
-re-installed OS/updated all drivers
-ran multiple memtests -came back ok-
-did a motherboard BIOS flash and came back OK
-diablo is using all processors in all windows
--I used windows mode full screen
-went into REGEDIT and change the DWORD to "0" and also changed it to "10" after "0" didn't work.
.....after doing all of that it still happened
So I tried to take off window mode full screen and play on full screen with a 1600x900 resolution instead of 1920x1250
I don't play with stacked screens. I play with one ontop and 3below it in smaller boxesi was playing for 6 hours and no problems(record for me)
The TDR issue went away, the FPS would still drop from 50 to 38 now and then.but NOW an even worse issue happens! My screen turns black, then the fans on the GPU/chassis/PSU turn on full blast(I can hear it) and my computer crashes. It will restart automatically and say windows was not shutdown properly.
It has happened twice. The first time happened in town while moving to the blacksmith from the rift portal
The second time was in the middle of a rift boss fight... Luckily I lived since it was on normal
... Is my monitor too big? Should I try to play on one of my 24" or 28"?
I'm stumped..
