New to multiboxing have some questions

So I managed to configure everything and started multiboxing on some trial accounts before purchasing just to test the software, however there are a couple of things that I am finding quite annoying, I need to be able to grab a target for all my characters main and slaves with the press of one button, is this possible? right now whenever I click my target I have to click the assist shortcut in order to have my slaves attack my target would like to change this for the press of one button for all.

Another thing is looting, even with the intereact with target shortcut I find myself contantly having to turn on and off broadcast for looting this is terribly annoying, can this be changed in any way to make it easier?

Thank you!!

Re: New to multiboxing have some questions

What game are you playing?

For example in World of Warcraft.
If you target with your main toon (the active window).
And wait a second or so, so the game realizes what mob you're on.

If you press '1' (or any key on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, -, = row) that has a nuke type effect on it.
The other characters will assist your main character (which acquires the target of the active window).
And then on the same keystroke, do whatever is on that hotkey.

So if your team was a Tank, a Healer, and three Nukers.
Your tank targets something and you push '1'.
The three Nukers will cast whatever is on '1' for each of them, and auto assist the active window.

If you switch targets, it can take the game a little while (typically double your average latency) to register that the target has changed.
So, on a quick target switch... the Nukers might not be instantly responsive to the change.
But with a very short delay they will switch too.

Re: New to multiboxing have some questions

The information below is predicated on my belief that you are playing WoW. If that is not the case, it would be helpful to know which game you are playing.

I need to be able to grab a target for all my characters main and slaves with the press of one button, is this possible?
If you mean click on that target with your mouse and have all your characters acquire it as the target, no. As Ualaa explained above, there will be a delay between when your main character acquires that target and when it is available as an assist target on your slaves. You could possibly jury-rig something involving a key held down and then released about a second later but that is still essentially 2 actions that you have to remember to time correctly. The standard method in WoW is as Ualaa described. Other games require a completely separate keypress to assist.

Another thing is looting, even with the intereact with target shortcut I find myself contantly having to turn on and off broadcast for looting this is terribly annoying, can this be changed in any way to make it easier?
The standard method for setting up IWT should involve sending the IWT keybind to all your characters at the same time, i.e. there is no point to turning on broadcasting. However, there is a game limitation with quest items that only one character can loot them at a time, hence you will need multiple keypresses to get your whole team to loot the same mob. If you have followed the IWT instructions linked above and it is still not working as epxected, share your configuration for troubleshooting purposes.

Ok I understood the IWT and I think it will work once I try it, however I think I am doing something wrong with the targeting because I am not getting the effect you guys explain, the way you guys say it is that it happens automatically with a minimal delay in between, however I am not getting this I actually have to press two keys to get the target for all my chars, one key is my target nearest enemy keybind from warcraft and the other key is the default ALT-A from Isboxer in order to get my slaves to attack the target my main is attacking, so how can I make it like you guys are saying with that minimal delay with one button or ability press.

Keep in mind that I am skipping that default green action bar that Isboxer is providing and instead I am using keymaps I created in ALWAYS ON, I did this because I wanted to use the same keybinds I use while ingame in Warcraft so to attack I hit a button in my multibutton mouse, I am not using or clicking on the default green action bar that is provided, and by the way how can I put abilities in that green action bar or have it be a bigger action bar with more options? should I be using that green action bar instead of the custom method I created for myself? is that provided action bar mandatory?

Thank you guys for your time.

You can use the Mapped Key Wizard to make the Mapped Keys you want with auto-assist built in. Ensure you choose Assist and Broadcast as the type of Mapped Key to create. As long as you have chosen World of Warcraft as the game you set up in the Quick Setup Wizard that should work.

I would strongly advise against making those Mapped Keys in the Always On Key Map though. There will be times when you may need to disable them (such as while setting in-game keybinds, entering passwords, or chatting in-game) and if they are in Always On then that becomes problematic. The generally-accepted appropriate Key Map for combat abilities is Combat.

The "green bar" is a Menu. It is not mandatory. You can set up your own as well. I'd suggest beginning with the wiki page I linked and then maybe looking at some examples in the isboxer.com Menu forum.

Re: New to multiboxing have some questions

Thanks Alge, I have managed to set up everything correctly and now I can target an loot like I wanted thanks all for the assistance, I still have some questions I would like to clear here they are:

1- Is it possible to adjust the follow distance, the distance at which my slaves follow me, also is it possible to change their position so that for example the slaves are always positioned on the right of my main char or at least be able to make them always face forward? I ask this because sometimes while following and even while playing caster class the slaves sometimes are not facing the enemy so I find myself having to move the main to fix their positioning, its a minor thing but does it have any solution?

2- Is it normal for one of the windows to get stuck and stop functioning having to restart everything? I play a 3 char setup and I have had a crash in one of them, I had to restart everything.

3-I am having some performance issues I think they might be related to the FPS, I have it set to 60 fps max on the main window and 30 FPS on the background windows, this is the default and should be enough I think however I still notice a considerable delay in things like following and the overall performance at which the game runs, in other words everything feels laggy, I am running on a Intel Quad Core 2.40ghz 8gb ram my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series 1gbram memory I use windows 7 on 64 bits, its not the best computer out there but when I run the game solo it goes smooth, perhaps I need a better PC for multiboxing?

4-There are some small Icons on the top left corner they look like keyboard keys and have the letter A and Z apparently they turn on and off broadcast and Key maps I think, how can I make these Icons disappear?

5-How effective is multiboxing in things like PvP Arenas and Raids? would you recommend it for PvP or Raids seeing how it works on a follow mechanic how much of an obstacle can that be in certain situations like specific Raid mechanics of a boss and specific critical situations in PvP Arenas? or is multiboxing more of a chill out solo play thing world PvE?

Well these are my question, I bet Ill have more by the time my free subscription expires.

Thank you.

Re: New to multiboxing have some questions

Is it possible to adjust the follow distance, the distance at which my slaves follow me

No, that is under the control of the game.

also is it possible to change their position so that for example the slaves are always positioned on the right of my main char

No. You typically either use follow to position your team or create some Mapped Keys that control your slave movement only. For example, I use Ctrl+S to make my slaves move backwards. You can use the Key Re-map option in the Mapped Key Wizard to make such a Mapped Key. Make sure to check the Hold checkbox.

Is it normal for one of the windows to get stuck and stop functioning having to restart everything? I play a 3 char setup and I have had a crash in one of them, I had to restart everything.

No, not normal. Was there an error message or something in a crash log? If one game instance crashes just relaunch your Character Set and it will fill in any missing game windows.

HOWTO:Tweak your framerate covers all of this, including advice on how to monitor your system and determine bottlenecks, which will tell you whether you need to upgrade. This may also shed some light on your crashing issue.

Answered in the FAQ.

I don't PvP. I also haven't played WoW seriously for an expansion or two. Some movement-heavy fights are difficult for boxers. However, I understand Heroics are pretty easy this expansion. My favourite thing to do in WoW was run instances with various mixed 5 man teams.

Re: New to multiboxing have some questions

Thanks Alge, one last question, I went and tried to multibox melee class, warrior to be specific however every time after entering combat the auto follow would break, is it meant t be like that? will I have to click auto follow again every time I kill an enemy? this is quite interesting, whats so different about entering combat as a caster than as melee? why does one break auto follow and the other doesn't.

I managed to fix everything else, just have to fix the FPS thing and I am done.

Thanks again!!

Melee combat breaks follow no matter the class. If you swing your weapon, you stop following.
