Cryptic Helper Virtualizing - ISBoxer-Binds.txt not binding

Lax,

Got what may be a bug here.

When exporting from ISBoxer, Cryptic Helper virtualizes the binds files correctly - ie; creates ISBoxer-CharacterSet-CharacterName-Binds.txt with the correct binds inside the file.

Users are correctly adding the text into Neverwinter launcher command line field: /bind_load_file isboxer-binds.txt

However, it seems that the binds are not getting into Neverwinter proper. When you do a dump of the in-binds to a text file via the /bind_save_file command, you get an empty file, no binds.

Can you please investigate? It seems that it first started happening a few weeks ago and more and more people are reporting it to me.

The only way currently to get binds into the game is to manually load the virtualized ISBoxer-CharacterSet-CharacterName-Binds.txt files into the game.

Thanks!

Re: Cryptic Helper Virtualizing - ISBoxer-Binds.txt not binding

Ok, I've done some more digging, and have discovered something.

For the characters that it's working correctly on (from some time ago)...

the virtualized Game.Prefs looks like this: Gameprefs-Moondancer.Pref

and the virtualized Software/Cryptic/Launcer looks like this: Software/Cryptic/Cryptic Launcher-Moondancer/

on the newer ones that are having problems, it is simply blank.

Ideas on what can be done to resolve this?

One last piece of info. Apparently the characters that are not working received an error "Virtualized may not be empty" when clicking on the Virtual Files in ISBoxer's left bottom pane. It repeats the dialog, finally lets you out and has a blank field.

Don't know if that helps, but it's something I noticed.

Re: Cryptic Helper Virtualizing - ISBoxer-Binds.txt not binding

I actually had to dig through your install instructions to find out why this would be blank. Turns out when I added the "highlight to add the virtual file" method (in addition to the old Click and Drag method) it didn't include auto-assigning the virtualization filename.

The fix is now available via Help->About ISBoxer, and you can update your instructions to just tell them to have the latest ISBoxer via Help->About at the install part of the guide, instead of necessarily filling in the Virtual File info manually.
Code:
ISBoxer 41.4.0803.1
    * Fixed a bug with the new highlighting method of assigning Virtual Files, where a newly-assigned Virtual File was not assigned a 'Virtualize as' filename

Lax,

Follw up question for you..

Will people need to recreate their characters and sets for this to "fix" them, or will ISBoxer automatically fix the virtualization on export to Innerspace?

ISBoxer will not automatically fill in the empty "Virtualize as" field when you Export.

Existing Characters can be updated with a corrected Virtual File; just delete the Virtual File from the Character and re-add it.

Re: Cryptic Helper Virtualizing - ISBoxer-Binds.txt not binding

Lax,

I can confirm that we are no longer getting the error message dialog box and the highlights on the Virtualized entries seem to take.

The binds are still failing to load into Neverwinter, however.

Noticed that the highlighted Virtualized entires are *not* added to the "tree" in the left lower pane even after being highlighted/selected and moving off to another part of the tree. If they are dragged down into the tree, they do get added. Perhaps there is a disconnect?

At this point we're digging for more clues... Anything you can do to help would be appreciated. :)

Re: Cryptic Helper Virtualizing - ISBoxer-Binds.txt not binding

Either way, the Virtual Files you're having them work with are unrelated to isboxer-binds.txt (GamePrefs.pref stores configuration like sound and video settings, and Software/Cryptic/Cryptic Launcher/ does your stored login name for the launcher), and nothing to my knowledge has changed with isboxer-binds.txt. ISBoxer-binds.txt is automatically virtualized internally by ISBoxer; Unless their Character Set or Character name contains invalid characters for a filename, it should work fine. And, if those names had invalid characters, manually loading from within the game would not work.

My assumption is still that the issue is the same as it always was, and that you still don't need to specify the character set name and character name when doing /bind_load_file isboxer-binds.txt. Are you sure that the issue isn't that they need to clear their existing binds before the new ones will load?
