Menus or Click bars or something else?

I am fairly new to isboxer and a little overwhelmed with the options. Can someone point me where I should begin?

I tried to make a clickbar but I didn't quite get it working.

Here is what I am trying to achieve if someone could just nudge me in the right direction. Currently I 4 box with one large window and 3 small windows below it on my layout. I want to play with just one maximized window and rarely swap between them, when I do swap I am only interested in controlling the character I am on currently. I have some macro keys on the left of my keyboard that make is great for swapping hotkeys (razer blackwidow). Is it possible to have the swap key swap back to slot 1 if I am already active in that slot?

So I am trying to create a menu or click bar only on my main (slot 1) for the other characters. (it is eq but it isn't relevant really) So I will have 3 of these menus which click through to only the specific character. Technically I could use video feeds for what I want to do and I might eventually do that, but I move my UIs around a lot I find and I keep having to change the the feed placements etc.

Depends on how you have it set up to swap, but yes it is possible. Worst case you can set up a Key Map, assign it to all Slots but the one, and put a Mapped Key in it with a Window Focus Action to focus slot 1. I realize that's the abridged instructions, if you need details show me your configuration first and that way I can be sure I'm giving you the right instructions or easiest way. (HOWTO:Share your configuration for better support)

So I am trying to create a menu or click bar only on my main (slot 1) for the other characters. (it is eq but it isn't relevant really) So I will have 3 of these menus which click through to only the specific character. It's generally easier to use Menus rather than Click Bars. The best use for a Click Bar is if you want to be able to use a different click combo (e.g. shift+mouse1, alt+mouse2, etc) on the same UI button, to activate different things. Menus can't do that, they only have one possible thing to activate and it activates whether clicked or with an assigned Hotkey.

I need to do a series of videos and written guides for Menus.

Here's a simple way to get started.

To begin with, create a Menu. Right click Menus and select New Menu. Name your Menu. When you select your Menu in the top left pane, you will get to select its components in drop-down boxes in the bottom right pane. It requires a Menu Template in order to appear, it needs a Button Set in order for the buttons to actually do things (leave it out if you want the buttons to do nothing), and if you want Hotkeys you can assign a Hotkey Set.

To get started quickly, you can start out with the Standard Template, which has 12 buttons and was designed for a standard MMO 1 through = Action Bar.

Then you would only need to create a Button Set for your Menu. You can make a copy of the Standard Button Set (right click it in the bottom left pane under Button Sets) and start with that; it sends 1 through = to all, but you can change each individual button in your new Button Set. Or just right click Button Sets and select New Button Set and design each of the buttons on your own. When you select your Button Set in the bottom left it gives you the ability to configure each of the Buttons and their Actions in the bottom right. Assign your Button Set to the Menu via the drop-down (select the top-most entry in the bottom left pane to get back to the main page for configuring the Menu itself)

Re: Menus or Click bars or something else?

Hate to dig up an old thread but just thought I'd share my experiences with this...

I'm still VERY green when it comes to ISBoxer, but what I've learned about it has revolutionized multiboxing for me (thanks Lax! Expect a full year of subscription from me after my 90 day sub runs out). I struggled with Click Bars for morning it seemed like; a play session turned into trial and error with the click bars. Until I discovered the menu's and that just simplified everything for me. Did a minor facepalm for not researching it more lol, but that comes with the territory I suppose.

I currently 3 box EQ2 (went from 4 to 3 due to my processor only having 4 threads as opposed to 8), and I have a menu's setup for my healer so I can click their macro's for healing/buffing etc, and a single button menu for my Illusionists AOE mez. These have worked out very nicely. For some reason I keep looking into click bars, but I don't think I need to given that I can direct which button in a menu gets broadcasted. Very nice feature to be honest and helps my team work in tune with each other.

I would eventually like to try out Click Bars, but with Menu's I'm not seeing the need for click bars at this time. So, case in point, run with the menu's as they seem to be a bit easier to setup; at least for me at this time. When I get more experienced with ISBoxer, I'm sure I'll utilize click bars.
