Variable Keystrokes and Group Number

Not sure if this is the correct forum section for this situation/question...

Running lotro but this isn't a lotro-specific problem. Run 6-man team normally but working on a 5-man for class deeds [all 5 toons are same class]. 6-man group works fine for follow and assist. However if I just run 5-man group, follow and assist are FUBAR due to variable keystrokes being no longer configured correctly, since variable keystrokes depend on same toons always being in group and same group join order.

I launch my 6-man team, exit the client for slot one, then form my group with remaining 5 toons...

I'm trying to write up a keymap that will adjust the variable keystrokes between the 5-man and 6-man teams without having to setup a separate 5-man char set. Unless, I can launch the 5-man char set then launch the 6-man char set and have it bump each toon from the 5-man down a slot.

Problem I'm noticing when writing up the variable keystroke adjustment keymap is that even though the 5-man group consists of slots 2-6, i'm only seeing slots 1-5 avail as targets for selection in the isboxer dropdown menus for the "set variable keystroke actions". Do I need to keep slot 1 active while I'm creating the readjustment keymap or have slots 2-6 become slots 1-5 with my exit of slot 1's game client?

Is there a particular reason you don't want to or can't set up a different Character Set? The situation you have described is exactly why you should use different Character Sets.

Re: Variable Keystrokes and Group Number

This is why...

I'm just using the 5 RKs as a team to do their class deeds. If I create a separate char set for the RKs, then they'll occupy slots in a different order than what they are in my main char set. ideally, I'd like to launch the main char set, kill the slot 1 client, and go about my RK deed business. When that's finished I relaunch the main char set, which reloads the slot 1 client, login and I can continue with my team's progression. This way I only have to "re-login" a client once, that being the slot 1 client.

If I create a separate char set for the RKs, then I have to login those, do my business with them, close them all, launch my main team and login those. A separate char set would mean I'd have to "re-login" 5 times. Unless ISBoxer has the ability to move clients from one slot to another on-the-fly and I've been given the impression in the chat room that it does not.

Re: Variable Keystrokes and Group Number

I think the simplest solution for you would be:

copy your current character set, rename it properly and in this new character set replace slot 1 with a dxNothing window

After you are finished with the 5-man business you can kill the dxNothing and relaunch your 6-man character set.

Have Fun

EDIT: you can even use this blank space to show some Video FX information while doing deeds :)

Thats's an interesting suggestion, thanks.

If you want to avoid re-logging all your clients then Kaische's idea is a good one. I'd be interested to know the outcome and any issues you have.

Re: Variable Keystrokes and Group Number

I just went ahead and wrote a keymap that adjusts the variable keystrokes between a 5 and 6-man group. Hooked it up to a click bar button and everything seems to be working fine. And since it's working, I'm guessing that slots 2-6 are still slots 2-6 when slot 1 is terminated [when launching a 6-slot char set].

I did have to change the char set filter to see slots 1-6 avail as target options in the drop-down selections. Didn't take too long and I made a handy chart to avoid confusion. If anyone else decides to go down this same path, make a chart but remember the chart only flows in one direction, and make a note of which direction that is.
