Another newbie question

So, I set up my first team with the auto wizard and got into the game. I have a group of 5 druids. They all follow fine, no matter which one leads, and they all cast when I press the "1" button and buff on "3".

Once they get bear form, I am going to want one to tank while the others cast. Is there something coded in to the automatic set up to stop the slaves from following so the tank can engage the mob -- or do I need to program something in? --- thanks ----- JimJ

Re: Another newbie question

It really depends on your spec, for the non-bear druids.

You'll probably go with a Resto spec on one of them for heals.
I'd look into Repeater Region based heals, for this toon.
The basic idea will be rolling HoT spells on the tank, maybe Rejuvenation on all toons.
Then if you go with 3x Cats, 1x Bear and 1x Resto, Wild Growth also on the bear to top up the Cats.
Or if you go with 3x Boomkin, then WG on the Resto or a Boomkin for group heals and just the HoT spells on the bear.

If your DPS is melee (Cats), then you'll want to set up an "IWT" (Interact With Target) mapped key.
I'd put all of the Feral spec druids into a group, and use that group as the target.
You can modify the FTL DPS keys, so on press you get (Do Mapped Key Action), IWT, Target: All of Feral (Action Target Group)... and on release, it sends whatever dps key to the party.

If your DPS are Boomkin (Balance) druids, then they'll stay with the healer and DPS from range.
You'll want a set of keys (I use the arrow keys), for independent slave movement.
Take a look at the "Others Jump" mapped key, for an idea on setting up slave movement.
You'll want this type of key, regardless of what your dps is.

Combat will be something like...
Break follow (independent slave movement) and disable Strobe if you use that.
Then bear moves ahead and can Feral Charge or Feral Faerie Fire pull.
If you have cat dps, then spam your attack key (which includes IWT for the bears/cats) which will move them into melee.
If you have boomkin dps, then they're good to attack (without IWT) from where the healer is.
Once things are dead, hit your follow key and continue.

Re: Another newbie question

I agree with all you had to say about strategy -- my real question was how to break follow? :?

Re: Another newbie question

Create a mapped key.
I'd stick it in General Keymaps, so it applies to all teams.

If you keyboard move with WASD, use Down Arrow.
If you keyboard move with the Arrow Keys, use S.

Hotkey = The Down Arrow or S key.
One Step.
- Keystroke Action, Target: Window - All Without Current, Sends "S" to the target windows.

That assumes you have S set to walk backwards in wow.

Thanks again -- you guys make it look so easy in the videos -- guess this old guy just isn't as sharp as he used to be.

Re: Another newbie question

I needed a lot of help when I started.
Basically experimenting, or asking how do I do whatever... is how you learn.

The software is quite flexible and very powerful.
And Lax updates it a ton.

Unless I'm mistaken, this answer assumes Jamba strobe following isn't active.

Re: Another newbie question

If you were to use Strobe in your set up, you'd add an extra action in front of the first.
Basically to disable the Strobe, and then do the rest.

So it would be:

Same hotkey.
One Step.
Actions:
a) Disable Strobe
b) Send "S" to Target: All Without Current.

No worries - just wanted to point it out in case the OP was a Jamba user. :)

Re: Another newbie question

The wizard recommends not using automatic Strobe.
But either no follow on a switch, or normal follow on the switch.

I do both.
Melee teams have no follow on a switch; and I use Mouse 4 for 'FTL Follow Me'.
Caster teams do normal follow on a switch.
