Multibox mining & depleting asteroids

Hi, I'm using ISBoxer for some multibox mining. 1 Rorqual, 1 Domi for tank/rep, and 4 Retrievers that are controlled through ISBoxer.

Ice mining, this setup works perfectly since the ice never depletes, cargo is always the same, etc., its hard to get things out of sync.

However, when it comes to ore mining, I'm having some difficulty. Some asteroids deplete while others don't, and if strips are on different cycle times, one strip is still active while another has deactivated, so broadcasting my mouse clicks to reactivate a strip miner will deactivate another set on another client, and things get out of sync real fast.

I've tried using video feeds, but this leads to alot of clicking.

Strip miners can't be set to not auto-repeat, so no luck there.

I've looked for a way to set a specific key to deactivate the miners and a different key to reactivate them, but the client doesn't appear to support that, just toggling of the module on/off.

So far, the simplest way I've found to keep everything in sync is to start all the miners broadcast from 1 client. Right before that cycle ends, I press F1 and F2 to stop all the miners on all the clients. Then, I target the closest 2 asteroids (in case one has depleted) and reactivate the miners with a F1 + F2 broadcast.

Any suggestions, especially from the guys that run 10+ miners and may have to deal with different cycle times?

Re: Multibox mining & depleting asteroids

You are going to want to cycle your lasers to get the most yield, If you have several asteroids in range have as many targeted as you can and your overviews accessible to get more. On my setup I use mining drones on the closest asteroid which I always put in the first targeting spot. The second and third I actively mine, the 4th is where one is in range but not being mined so when I hit f1 and f2 it turns off all my ships lasers If one depleats I just select the new 2nd and 3rd when I reactivate lasers. Setting up your overview by range and giving each miner a specific ore you want it to focus on can keep miners from working on the same asteroid.

as long as you have the capacitor to reactivate your lasers you should be stopping your cycle frequently.

look into action target groups and get all your retrievers working together.

Re: Multibox mining & depleting asteroids

MultiBox Mining in HS is like playing Tetrus. Like the post above, Set one ship per Ore Type. With 8 Hulks, I mine 4 Ore types at the same time. The first starts at the closest roid, the second at the one as far as you can reach then you meet in the middle. If you run out of a specific Ore, swap crystals and eat out of the middle of another group. I prefer to leave a belt empty and clean in about an hour or so.
Oh Dual Orcas are great. One boosts and one hauls. When a roid pops, start mining another one. I target 1 roid per laser.

NOTE: Never bunch up all your Hulks/macks next to your Orca for easy loading. That is the perfect target for a ganker fleet. Find an out of the way belt, and watch your D-Scan for Ganker Fleets and keep track of who is in the system with you.

You see a bunch of ships show up on the D-Scan... Hit the POS, find a station etc until they are gone. When in doubt warp out.
