Can no longer add a character to more than one slot

I've encountered an issue whilst trying to create a new character set, where I cannot add a character to more than one slot in the character set.

My characters sets are set up with generic characters for each class-type and virtual user preferences files tuned for the size of the character set e.g. a LOTRO Guardian master + 5x Runekeeper slaves below:

Now, when I try to add the 'Rs4' character to my new 'G4' character set below, it removes the Rs4 character from slot 2 when I add it to slot 3, removes it from slot 3 when I add it to slot 4, etc, which is new behaviour that prevents me from creating the character set:

I don't know which update changed this or introduced this issue, so I don't know how far to roll back to get around it right now.

I really don't want to go down the path of creating unique characters for every set-size/set-slot combination, as that would require a ridiculous number of characters in total for no benefit beyond getting around this issue, as all my multi-boxing slaves are configured identically.

Any ideas?

Re: Can no longer add a character to more than one slot

It was a bug that allowed you to put the same Character in more than one Slot; the current behavior was always intended. The previous behavior inadvertently cleared out the wrong slot... That's not to say I'm not sympathetic to what you're trying to do..

To find out what specific version made this change look no further than the ISBoxer Release Notes (Help->About has them)
Code:
ISBoxer 40.3.0716.1
    * Added a new option 'Clear assigned Hotkeys' to the right-click menu on 'Mapped Keys' in the Key Map editor
    * Fixed some popup boxes not being centered on the ISBoxer window (they might have shown up on the wrong monitor, etc)
    * Fixed a bug with dragging Characters into Character Set Slots not correctly clearing duplicates

.. so ISBoxer 40.3.0626.2 is the last version prior to this fix that you consider a bug. ;)

I get why you're reusing Characters, but why does your runekeeper (or any class) "Character" need to know how many are in the party? That seems like something that's not really relevant to what class they are and could probably be handled another way... Ideally they should be interchangeable in a group of any size (e.g. HOWTO: Configure ISBoxer like a pro)

Re: Can no longer add a character to more than one slot

Ok thanks Lax. I will re-think how I set the teams up.

I use different characters for each team size, so I can tune the LOTRO graphics options in the preferences files e.g. for a duo, I have better graphics on the slaves than I do in a 6-man. I do this because I run the team from any of the characters and swap between them a lot during instances.

Thanks for the quick reply.

That makes sense. This actually sounds like a reasonable case to add Character Set-specific Virtual Files, in addition to the current Character-specific setting. A Character-specific Virtual File would override a Character Set-specific Virtual File..

Would that eliminate the need to have a separate Character for different sizes for you? Or does your guardian master need a different settings file than any given runekeeper in the same group?

Yes, that would solve what I'm trying to do in a far more elegant way. It would be perfect.

Nope :)

Re: Can no longer add a character to more than one slot

Okay then!

Code:
ISBoxer 40.3.0731.2
    * Virtual Files can now be assigned to Character Sets (previously only available per Character). A Character-specific Virtual File will override a Character Set-specific Virtual File if the same file is assigned to both
    * Repeater Profile now includes a Fake Cursor Color option. This will mask the fake cursor with the given color (and transparency!) to make it easier to identify the real cursor. Solid white is default, which retains the cursor's original color
    * Added Screenshot to the Mapped Key Wizard, with default options that make it super easy to capture multiboxing screenshots

Available via Help->About. :)
