Making your 5 man dungeon viable (RAF)

Greetings once again ISBoxers,

I wanted to ask for input from veteran 5team boxers, especially those who have used RAF. I tried 5boxing druids through dungeons and I found (aside from a complete world of complicated :P) I was simply undergeared because my characters had leveled 3 times faster than quests and as such had 1/3 of the quest rewards. I got stomped in Ragefire :P my DPS casters actually ran out of mana.

Are there ways to keep your team geared while under the effects of RAF, or is there a particular team member that you gear up in an effort to combat this problem? I'd definitely like to know because completing a random dungeon provides significant XP in addition to the quests available on first entry.

That first boss in Ragefire Chasm (Oggleflint?) is almost impossible for a caster team at level 15. He has too much health for their limited mana pools. The guy in the middle of the lava pools isn't much better. With my 5 druid team I had better luck with feral DPS, at least during the early levels.

Aside from that, never used RAF (I enjoy the leveling process) so nothing else constructive to add here sorry.

Unfortunately no. RAF guarantees you will be undergeared and underfunded until you reach level 70 or so.

Your best options are:
1) To level crafting (skinning and leatherworking) and make your own gear.
2) Cherry pick quest chains that have useful rewards for your class instead of taking every quest that comes along
3) Run green dungeons that reward you with useful loot. Unfortunately, that also keeps you from getting the random dungeon rewards. You Might be able to fool the random dungeons system by keeping a toon 3-5 levels below the rest of the team. That will tend to skew the random dungeon lower.

Re: Making your 5 man dungeon viable (RAF)

I appreciate the input, you both pretty much just confirmed what I had already been suspicious of. My first thought was that I suck horribly, which may very well be true. But if that was the case, I was sucking horribly as well as being undergeared, and there is no need to go in 2 strikes against you.

I have reconfigured my groups by chaining RAF amongst them. Main WoW > A,C > B,D so that A & B receive the Bonus even though A & my Main wouldn't and the same goes for C & D (and C and my main). This so far has allowed me to gain the xp benefits of RAF and having one of my main toons run them through a dungeon. Although they are still badly undergeared, I can just push them to the upper levels more quickly and be sooner working towards gear at max level.

My biggest disadvantage is that I am not getting any valuable 5boxing experiencing in dungeons where content & gear is relevant at the same time. So I'm going to have to try my hand at Cata level regulars after gearing via the first sets of quests post 80.

Thanks Again

Hey there, when I use RAF I use two seperate Battle.net accounts that have full BoAs on them for every character I'm making, then, using one account i invite the other to raf and vice versa till i have a 5 man set. This allows me to use BoAs on all the characters so they're never undergeared up until 80.

BoA - Bind on Account

Account Bound items can be mailed to any character that shares the same Battle.net account and server.

http://www.wowpedia.org/Heirloom may be a better link. People buy these items and use them to smooth and expedite the leveling of new characters.
