Launching eve

Hello,

I have been trying to launch eve using the isboxer launcher, each time it tells me "...EVE\bin\exefile.exe does not exist. please correct the path" now given the game no longer can use eve's exe file to launch and i have as far as i am aware followed the guide on this forum to the letter, i have no idea what to do in order to use isboxer any longer with eve

Any info you could give would be gratefully accepted

Re: Launching eve

You might need to be a little more clearer on what process you are following, and where you are up to with the steps of that process. Based on the limited information, yes, the file path is incorrect, and it would seem as though your characters are using an game profile which is pointing to an EVE install location from a long time ago.

If you are using the ISBoxerEVELauncher, I wrote out a set of steps that can be followed to get it working, in this thread. For an existing team you should only need to do up to step 16, and then from there, in ISBoxer Toolkit select your existing Characters in the top left, and then in the lower right set the Game to ISBoxer EVE Launcher, and the Game Profile to the applicable entry for the account. Once you've done that you can skip to step 25.

If that brief bit of path is from the ISBoxerEVELauncher and not something else, I'd have to guess the SharedCache folder is set incorrectly. The ISBoxerEVELauncher should grab the correct value from the registry where it is set by the newish standard EVE Launcher, but it is possible that this location is incorrect and you need to set it manually (not covered in my steps). You can find out where EVE thinks this folder is by launching their normal launcher and going to the Settings (the Cog in the lower left rather than the hamburger settings which are not quite the same - FFS CCP), and then click on the Shared Cache Settings button under the General tab. The folder there is the one which the ISBoxerEVELauncher should be using for it's SharedCache folder. The remaining sections of the paths to the exe files are hard coded to match the file paths that should be in place which are subfolders from the SharedCache folder, e.g. ...EVE\SharedCache\tq\bin\exefile.exe

This is known to happen if you've managed to launch an outdated exefile.exe -- they moved exefile.exe to a new location a few months back, and I believe the old one is still left where it was before.

Otherwise we'll need some "Diagnostics for game crashes" ("Compatibility diagnostics" if you're using ISBoxer 42) from ISBoxer's Help menu. http://isboxer.com/wiki/Diagnostics

Re: Launching eve

I would go a bit further and say that your characters are using a game profile which is not the one created by the ISBoxerEVELauncher. For each of your characters in ISBoxer select them in the top left, and make sure that the Game and Game Profile dropdowns in the lower right are set correctly to the Game; ISBoxer EVE Launcher, and the Game Profiles: ISBEL - {ACCOUNTNAME} (where the account name is your EVE account name).

Failing that, do as Lax says and get a diagnostic, preferably on the EVE instance when is says it cannot connect.
