WoW freezes sometimes

Hello everyone!

Firstly, I want to say that I am new to to ISBoxer so apologies if this is something very easy and simple fix that I haven't had the chance to discover yet! Secondly, ISBoxer is an awesome software and it works very good, but I have one very specific issue. From time to time, especially when loading maps/dungeons in WoW, one or two accounts will freeze. I multibox with 5 accounts, where one is my main account and 4 others are RAF's. I am always checking my task manager if the issue is too high usage of CPU but it truely never hits the "roof" (100%). This issue is not only happening when loading but also when questing and such, so I am pretty much limited to RDF only with myself, sadly. How I solve the "loading dungeon" issue is that I let one account load the map only and then let the others load one by one which isn't that big of an issue. But sadly I would also like to quest a bit with 5 players as RAF ends close to maximum level and we all know (who have been leveling in WoW) that it's pretty boring to grind same dungeons over and over again.

My specs can be found on this website here, where I even tested my computer to see if there was something wrong there: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/17337723 Drivers are up to date. A little correction from that website, I am using 390 and not 290, somehow it confused itself (I checked in my system information just to be sure). Using 2 screens, first for my main and second for 4 boxes looking something like this:

Windows 10 is used as OS, as can be seen in the picture as well.

Any help will do!

Re: WoW freezes sometimes

Does this happen when playing less than 5 game clients?

To test this, find a portal that you can repeatedly walk in and out of to force a loading screen. If you can get games to freeze when doing so, then drop the amount of game clients and try again.

The only other thing I can think of is perhaps an add-on is locking you up, but I really don't know.

It doesn't seem to me that you'd be running out of RAM (16GB) or VRAM (8GB), but you can also try these:

1) We can take a look at a compatibility diagnostic
2) You can send Lax (contact e-mail) a trace diagnostic of your frozen game client, and he can maybe see why it's freezing

Re: WoW freezes sometimes

Thank you for your response. I tested this out with fewer clients from 5 to 3. 5 it obviously already crashed, on four it did as well. On three it crashed two out of one client but I noticed something different this time:

The first core is I supposed with my strategy 2/1/1/1 as I only have 4 cores, it was loading a lot of new content and of course this is not an optimal strategy for 3 clients to be shared like that, but I didn't really create a new "team" of characters when I tested this so I couldn't change the strategy. Maybe this will tell why I suppose, my CPU just can't handle it or? I also sent the freeze reports to lax@lavishsoft.com

Update: I can't even change CPU strategy, that's quite sad, neither enable multithreading. :/

Re: WoW freezes sometimes

Are you saying that you're only giving a single core to some of the game clients? That's not a good route to choose, regardless if you only have 4 cores. If a game client is told to only use one core, and it's only eating up 20% of it, then 80% of it is completely wasted as it's not being shared with any other game client. WoW's minimum requirements for CPU is a dual-core, so if you're forcing game clients to only one core, then that could easily be an issue. Normally, we recommend to assign all game clients to all cores, and let Windows balance things.

In my experience, WoW likes to use ~3 cores, but W10 also likes to jam a lot of things onto a single core (even if you tell it to use multiple). The only way to drop CPU usage is by either lowering your in-game settings (including in-game resolution), or by upgrading the CPU (like the 4790K with hyper-threading) and giving Windows more room to work with.

Well whichever strategy I pick, I cannot save it. I select another strategy and then I press on "Finish" and then I re-check it's back same as before. Same if I create a new team. Either way my trial has passed (7-days) so I suppose you can L&A this thread. Cheers and I hope it's fixed for future players, I did my part in reporting the issues to that e-mail.

The CPU Strategy Wizard doesn't "read" what's currently set in your Character Set, it simply starts with a default set of settings. I assure you that whatever you're choosing in the CPU Strategy Wizard is saving, and you can check this under the Performance tab of each specific Slot of your Character Set.

Re: WoW freezes sometimes

This was solved and tested to be true. Enabling multithreading + letting the game decide was the best thing I could possibly do. I am still careful if I have to load a totally new dungeon, I let my main one load and it takes about 5 seconds or so, allowing the other clients to load it within 1-2 seconds which is great. Thanks for the assistance it was very much helpful!
