Having difficulty passing CTRL or SHIFT with 1-0 keys

Problem: I have tried expanding the auto generated Combat mapped key set to send multiple key presses when a combat key (1 or 2) is pressed. This works fine. The issue is that if I also try to pass CTRL + <some keyboard # key> the button mapped to that combo does not fire. If I manually hit CTRL + key in the window the button fires. I tried SHIFT as well, no dice. Note that I am using Bartender4 as button addon.

I'd appreciate any and all pointers to what I am doing wrong.

What I've done so far:
  • I confirmed that I didn't have FTL enabled for the combat keys so there should be no conflict with the use of CTRL/SHIFT in FTL.
  • I have disabled Bartender4 and mapped CTRL + key to one of the default blizzard buttons, it did not resolve the issue.
  • I changed the CTRL 5 sending to all clients to CTRL K and rebound the CTRL 5 key to use CTRL K in game and the button fires fine when I press 2
  • I confirmed I had no WoW bindings for CTRL or SHIFT versions of the combat keys
  • Read through the FAQ and WoW wiki pages to see if this is a game limitation but I didn't find anything

Re: Having difficulty passing CTRL or SHIFT with 1-0 keys

The issue here is that your Keystroke Actions are going to be combined for the duration of the Step. In other words, it's not getting the 1 and subsequent keys released until after it finishes pressing Ctrl+0. The reason Ctrl+5 isn't working is because 5 is already down. Also note that the modifiers will be held for the remaining key strokes, but you've already put the modified ones at the end.

You can change this by using a different type of Keystroke Action which does not follow the combination behavior -- Named WoW Macro Action or Variable Keystroke Action (set up a Variable Keystroke for each Key Combo you want to press) -- or alternatively you can split each of those key combinations into separate Mapped Keys and use them via Do Mapped Key Action.

However, as it looks like you want to set up a DPS Rotation on your 1 button, I'd also point you here: http://isboxer.com/wiki/Style:MMO_-_Pro, which by the way includes a link to here http://isboxer.com/wiki/PRO:Universal_Hotkey_implementation#DPS_Rotation that discusses exactly all of this.

Thanks Lax, I'll look into those links you provided.
