Client select with one click (EVE)

hi
i need a bit of help with window layouts for eve online
i need to have a main window on left part of the screen and select squares on right side of the screen

all it needs to do is to switch to the client i select from right but i don't want to swap between them. for example if i have client 5 on main window and i want to switch to 1 i need the right side to stay like it is every time i switch.
i tryed to look for a tutorial for this but no luck.

please let me know if i can do that (preferably without dxnothing windows) and how or direct me to a tutorial

Without using DXnothing you are going to have a swapping action going on for the active toon. DXNothing and VideoFX is the only way to have two views of the same game client.

That said, to get the closest you can without DXNothing, you can use the Window Layout Wizard, which is available on the Wizards Menu.
Select your team, and in the layout screen, there are some options on the right hand side.
Set the Preferred edge option to Right.
If you have multiple monitors, then select the Use monitors collection and remove the monitor you do not want to use.
If you want it to avoid the taskbar (so it always shows at the bottom), set this to true, or false if you want the games to cover it.
Then select the "Single monitor layout on \\.\DISPLAY1 (Swapping,Leave Hole,Avoid Taskbar)" option (the words Avoid taskbar will not be present if you set the option to false.

This setup does mean that when you select a game from the smaller views, it will swap to the large region, and leave a hole where it was.

So to do this with a DXNothing, it is a little more work.

First there are videos on creating Layouts. You might want to go through the series. At the very least the Actions one is useful. Failing that there is a forum post on creating a layout. This one does not include dxnothing, but it is the tutorial on using the VideoFX Actions which is the useful info to take from it.

Anyway.
  • Add the DXNothing "game", and add them to your character set (instructions on the wiki page linked).
  • Take note of which Slot the DXnothing guy is in.
  • Then run the Window Layout Wizard, and create a Stacked Full Screen layout. Your choice whether to avoid taskbar or not.
  • Find your new window layout under the Window Layouts node in the top left. Select it
  • In the lower left, select Regions.
  • For all the regions that own a game window (not the dxnothing), set the resolution to what you want your main are to be. Assuming the *** assumptions below, this will be 1370x1080. Do this for all regions that will home a game slot. The last region should be the dxnothing slot. Set this to be 550x1080 (*** assumptions). Position this to the right of the game windows.
  • For the region for the dxnothing window, also change it's swap group to be swap group 2.
  • Now using VideoFX (either via the ISBoxer GUI CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+G, or via Actions), setup viewers using the existing pregenerated sources for each game window. You want the viewers to be called is1, is2, is3, etc The size of each viewer is 274x216 (***assumptions). Make sure you tick the Enable VideoFX focus hotkey option.
  • Position these how you want them on the dxnothing.
  • The final piece is more about usage. By default the VideoFX viewers use ALT+Mouse1 to "swap". You can set this to Mouse1, by selecting your character set in the top left, and then setting the VideoFX Focus hotkey.
  • If you don't want to have to double click on a videofx viewer to bring the game to the front, then you can also, on your Window Layout, select the "Focus game windows via mouse without clicking (Focus follows mouse)" option.

*** assumptions. I have set specific sizes and assumed a screen size of 1920x1080, not avoiding taskbar. I have kept the game and the videofx viewers to the same aspect ratio, to stop things looking weird, blurry, or just letterboxed. It also would allow you to control the games via the videofx viewer without and mouse positioning oddities, if you want to be able to. Note that the dxnothing window is actually 2 pixels wider than needed. You could add this into your main region if you really wanted, and it probably wont make much difference. Personally I'd just use them as a "border". If you move to a 4K screen (3840x2160), the numbers are all double.

When using this setup, the dxnothing is only showing the small viewers. The actual game windows will be the main views, and will "bring to the front", when you click on a videofx viewer.

thank you for your help

i managed to do something better than i wanted with one dxnothing region
but now i have another issue
i can't change the cpu strategy for that layout :(
i have one window for main client with a different size and the 8 others are slightly smaller
if i start the cpu strategy wizzard i can select another cpu strategy but every time i click finish it goes back to Round-robin balancing (Dedicate CPU 1) (FPS 60/30) (slots per core 1/3/3/3) (cores per slot 1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1)
i want to try the rest to see if i get better performances ( Select all CPUs with every window (FPS 60/30) (slots per core 10/10/10/10) (cores per slot 4/4/4/4/4/4/4/4/4/4) - this one especialy )

The CPU strategy Wizard doesn't show you what your existing strategy is, so when you go back into it, it will just show the same default settings over and over.

Once you have set a strategy you can check each slot in the character set (select the slot number), and look at the performance tab.

As a general rule I recommend you select the last option in the drop down "Select all CPUs with every window (HyperThreading) (FPS 60/30) (slots per core x/x/x/x/x/x/x/x) (cores per slot 8/8)" the numbers will be different depending on your CPU. This is pretty much a leave it up to Windows, which has a fairly decent pre-emptive multitasking scheduler built in.
