New User

I recently installed ISBoxer/Inner Space.
Finished the quick wiz set up.
I was able to set up a key map for Assist/combat ability spam.
I'm looking for a way to use autofullow, the EQ one hasnt worked in ages.
I'm quite clueless on where to even begin so i ask for help here.
Appriciate it.

Re: New User

Not sure what you mean by hasnt worked in ages. If you mean /follow gets you stuck, then you need to practise and learn how to avoid getting stuck.
Otherwise, mine works just fine like this:
Global hotkey with send keystroke to each char (except my main which is to be followed).
eq macro on each char:
/pause 3, /tar [charname]
/follow

Additinally I have a stopfollow global hotkey that does:
send leftkey keystroke to each follow character (will breaks autofollow).

With this I can roam around dungeons without too much trouble.
There will be times you just have to move chars manually, nothing to do about that.

Re: New User

I've tried in game auto follow.
Doesn't seem to be working at all for me.
The characters would always either get left behind (same movement speed),
or start strafing into a random direction as soon as i take the slighest turn.

I guess i was hoping for a legal /stick lol.

Re: New User

I 6-box eq, and also suffer regularly from one or more characters sprinting off when on follow. I believe it's always when I turn while on the move. And yes, they do sometimes get left behind even when the same move speed. I believe it's to do with the background refresh rate, as it happens most around graphically-intensive areas or when quickly changing direction many times in a row. The solutions I have found are - 1. It reduces the frequency if you drop graphics quality (I run almost all basic settings, even on my twin-card i7 machine). 2. Don't just run and run - pause every so often to let the characters catch up. 3. Try not to do lots of turning or spinning while moving, instead wait for the whole group to stop moving before you turn (ie move in straight lines only, pause, turn, move in straight line etc).

If one or more characters start wildly sprinting off or running in mad circles, then I find that just bringing that screen to the foreground lets them settle and re-lock the follow. I use the old style layout (not the snazzy Aero videofeeds) and just a quick click on the window of each character that's gone for a wander is enough to let them refocus and get back to the job of following all by themselves.

Good luck :)

Re: New User

EverQuest 1 auto-follow needs your FPS to be at about 25 or higher in order to be smooth; if it drops, you will lose characters behind, have trouble with turning and even stopping.

If your PC can't run all of your windows at this speed and you're losing characters in auto-follow, you do have the option of using EQPlayNice's Rendering Limiting functionality. What this does is make EQ1 only render the UI, and not the game world, most of the time. Unfortunately this makes it appear to "flicker" and some people who don't expect it think it's lag, since the idea is that the game refreshes your view of the world about once a second. But the best part about it is that your windows are actually going to run at a higher framerate, while freeing up some of your CPU and GPU. You can bump your background FPS up to 60, and have EQPlayNice limit the rendering, and your auto-follow will perform at 60fps while you'd see 1 (for example) of those frames per second.

Some helpful info about running EQPlayNice with ISBoxer: http://isboxer.com/wiki/EverQuest#EQPlayNice
I may update EQPN for better ISBoxer integration one of these days
