Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

I apologize for lack of response on this thread but it is very strange and I am working on a range of issues, some of which could potentially be related. Inner Space build 5396 is up as a dev build now, so if you want to try that (you're probably on 5395) right click IS, select Patcher, check "Download development (test) patches" then close and restart Inner Space.

Windowed SLI was added in a pretty recent NVIDIA driver update, so I don't really have any information handy as far as how well it works. It doesn't really surprise me that you are seeing strange behavior with it enabled, though.

I am still trying to determine what's happening here, let me know if build 5396 changes anything for you.

Thanks -- I'll try the dev build. BTW, this happens with SLI enabled or disabled -- just with it disabled instead of the rainbow screen I get a black screen.

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

Progress with 5396 I think.

It happened again, but hit all 4 clones at the same time, leaving only the hot window alone (at first), which was slot 3. I did a lot of window switching and then the hot window superimposed the small window (960x600) at 0,0 in the main monitor, witht he 1920x1200 frame as well. I thought I was fairly screwed there -- here's where the progress came into it :) I alt-tabbed to try any restore tricks (none still work), but as I did the alt-tabbing, all but one of the windows cleared. The one that didn't clear was invisible and with no restore options, I couldn't fix it and had to relog.

It killed everest again, too. Which is weird...

I'm wondering if this is related to the turning on and off the mouse repeater. I had been using it heavily (stupid rift quests), and hearing a few windows bonks. The "fake cursor" seemed to flutter a bit... I'm going to try playing with that feature turned off (since it works so intermittently for me anyway) and see if that changes the problem in any way.

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

I've started getting an error message in Rift after logging in. It says (to paraphrase) that it had trouble loading all the textures and to run recovery as soon as possible. I've done so, but continue to get the message (on a different slot each time it occurs).

BTW, the recover option always reports "Already up to date" and doesn't do anything.

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

As if this wasn't weird and confusing enough, here are five more screenies -- all of this happened at the same time on all 5 viewports. One of these is the main window, and the other 4 are slave windows on monitor 2. I switched windows, the texture errors followed from the monitor 2 to monitor 1. None of the clients were frozen.

(note all the black faces on the geometry)

Image
(note the inside out models)

Image
(note the interesting view into another zone, the inside out turtle mounts, and the weirdness of the textures)

Image
(note the weird texture on the top of the tent)

Image
(note the weirdness of the turtle texture)

This is a weird set of weirdness...

I believe the weird textures in the last 2 images are icon maps. Earlier today, I saw this same issue on some of the stuff drawn by IS. At the time, I was not seeing texture problems in Rift, just in the click bar buttons, and strangely enough, in the FPS overlay (no icon maps here, but smeared greenness :D -- hate to inundate you with technical terms and all heh). I tried to screen shot the error in the IS UI but by the time I got FRAPs running, it stopped.

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

I have the much the same issue. I run 2 gtx 560ti , 2 monitors plugged into one card, sli enabled. I alwayd lose clients 2,3,4 sometimes 1 sometimes all 4, but as berserker stated if I lose one I might as well shut down the other two as they will follow shortly, I can never play more than an hour without freezing a slave. I have yet to screen lock on my main screen so this is definately a multi client or monitor issue.
Also I can stand in Meridian for hours on a non afk macro loop and have no issues, but less than an hour into playing i lose one of the slave windows and i have to reboot them.
Sometime when it freezes the game will still accept commands if i click the window, the image is just frozen, and any type of reset just causes a black screen, only solution is to close and reload the client.
I have tried non sli, each monitor on its own card, doesnt resolve the issue.
Would love some type of work around for this, as i have frozen in some really ugly places, especially when rifting.
Thanks

Out of curiosity are your cards MSI with the twin frozr fans? Are they OC'd (this happens to me OC'd or not, just curious).

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

Oh, and Lax, I'm now running with the "fake cursor" option turned off in ISBoxer. However, I still occasionally see the fake cursor when the mouse repeater is turned on. To be clear, on my setup I turn on ONLY the mouse repeater 99% of the time I need repeater on. It seems like the "fake cursor" option is being ignored.

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

Some EverQuest players had similar issues, and at least one has reported that the problem is gone after having done all of the following:

1. Get on Inner Space build 5397 or later, which includes various fixes related to the fake cursor. Hover your cursor over the IS icon in the system tray (notification area) to see what build number you currently have. Build 5395 is currently the live build, build 5397 is currently the development build. To try the development build, right click the IS icon and select Patcher, check "Download development (test) patches", then close and restart Inner Space.

2. Get ISBoxer 38.2.312.1 or later, which includes a fix for the fake cursor showing up when it should not. 38.2.314.2 is currently the latest available build (update notices when you launch ISBoxer are only given when the first 2 numbers change, i.e. 38.2). To check your ISBoxer version, select "About ISBoxer Toolkit" from the Help menu in ISBoxer. If you do not see this option, you do not have the latest version and it can be downloaded from http://www.lavishsoft.com/downloads/mods/Lavish.ISBoxerSuite.38.exe. If you do have it, the About box shows your Current version, and if your version is current enough, also shows the Latest version below it with a Download link if the Latest version is newer.

3. In the top pane in ISBoxer, select your Repeater Profile. Uncheck the Fake Cursor box (it's the very top option in the bottom right pane, when you select your Repeater Profile).

4. Export, then launch the game. If the game was already running when you Exported to change the Fake Cursor option, close and restart it.

After you've done all of that, I believe this problem should go away. Please let me know if that helps or not, thanks :)

Re: Multi Monitors and SLI weirdness, possible mouse bugs?

Thank Lax.

I'm on IS 5398, ISB 38.2.314.3. I've already unchecked the fake cursor option as mentioned above, but not sure what ISB build I was on when I did that.

So far, so good :) No mystery cursor, no freezes in 3 shorter play sessions so far. Of course, I just completely jinxed it heh.

BTW, thanks for adding the DL link from ISB -- love that feature :)
