Problems with regions freezing up

Here is the profile I'm using: http://www.privatepaste.com/51c0329a29

I'm a brand new user still trying to get the hang of it, but I keep having problems with the regions freezing up on me when I switch to them. It seems really strange to me, because my main focus hasn't froze up, but all the others will.

It seems to me it only happens once I turn broadcasting on. Also, I can still technically play the characters after they freeze up, just the video is no longer updating, but I can still press keys and the character still responds.

I'm running Windows7 64 and tried updating my video drivers for my GeForce 460, but the same thing keeps happening.

If you have any ideas for me to try I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance!

- Jeff

edit: new link that hopefully shows fake cursor disabled

Re: Problems with regions freezing up

Disabling the Fake Cursor should eliminate this problem (it is an issue with this feature in EQ1 that has not yet been fixed). Select your Repeater Profile in the top pane, then uncheck the Fake cursor box (the top one in the bottom right pane). You may need to re-launch the game after changing this

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried what you suggested and still had problems with the screen locking up when I switch out from my focus. I do have 'Show fake cursor' unchecked, but I can still see a mouse cursor in the other windows, does that mean anything?

Or is there anything else I can try?

Re: Problems with regions freezing up

Inner Space build 5392 and ISBoxer 38 Minor Update #2 are now pushed live, and together should solve this issue.

Restart Inner Space and let it patch up to 5392 or later. Restart ISBoxer and you would also get an update notice for it if you don't have the latest version

I'm still having the same issues after updating ISBoxer and Inner Space. Would I be better off with WinXP or something?

Only if you like jabbing sharp objects in your eye repeatedly. If that's the case then you're definitely better off with Windows XP. In any other circumstance, you're much, much better off with Windows 7.

This issue can apparently still happen depending on the sequence of events. There is a new and better explanation of the problem, though. It has nothing to do with the fake cursor as far as I can tell. It's actually to do with Minimize. What I believe is happening is you're Minimizing the game window, and then bringing the window back without actually un-Minimizing the window. The window is visible, it's just still technically minimized, so the game is not attempting to do any rendering. It looks like it's there but frozen, the game responds to broadcasting, but it seems like you're unable to interact directly with the window.

You should be able to un-Minimize ("Restore") the window when this happens by clicking its button in the windows task bar.

Re: Problems with regions freezing up

Greetings,

I'm having the same problems as eqx81, using Win7 64. I have 4 full screen eqs running on a single monitor so that the video feeds remain sharp. One or 2 non-main screens will stop rendering. The characters are still functional via hotkeys. I've tried to click the non responsive clients on the taskbar to un-minimize/restore as you suggested but that did not work. If I zone, they begin rendering again. The amount of time before it stops rendering seems to be random. If I don't use any of the video feeds or repeater regions, this problem doesn't occur. I've played for hours testing it with just basically isboxer and hotkeys set for switching to the characters and works perfect. Once I setup repeater regions and video feeds, eventually one or two of the clients will stop rendering.

Thanks

edit: when I exit the game, the regions that were not rendering do not close/exit. I have to open up task manager and close the 3 slaves, it shows them not responding. The frozen screen shows a huge white cursor.

edit2: After further reading my problem is also the same as this OP: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1133 My screen sometimes looks exactly like his and I do not have a restore option either. I also use 2 monitors but keep them all on the main monitor. Single graphics card.

Re: Problems with regions freezing up

Yep Feekay sounds like exactly what happens to me, it has something to do with repeater I'm 99% certain.

I tried to un-minimize, restore the the regions that freeze up but I can't get them to start rendering again. Just right clicking on the windows taskbar doesn't bring up an option to restore anyways, the only option is close. However I also run Sysinternals Process Explorer and tried using that that restore the window but no luck there either.

Re: Problems with regions freezing up

Ya, I did some more testing. I deleted all my repeater regions and just left the video feeds going. Played the entire time (about 2 hours) without fault, all screens continued to render. I later then re-enabled my repeater areas and everyone but the main region eventually stopped rendering. I even went as far as taking out my nvidia gtx and putting in an amd/ati card to see if that might be a cause (uninstalled nvidia drivers/installed amd drivers). Regions still froze under the AMD card with repeater sections on. I hope this info helps. Thanks.

Re: Problems with regions freezing up

Thanks for the info, I will re-check the fake cursor in EverQuest. You can disable the fake cursor option in your Repeater Profile to alleviate this issue. (You may need to re-launch the game after changing this setting)
