Can't switch windows when EQ is zoning

I just discovered this has something to do with the keyboard response. If I use the mouse to select the alternate characters then everything is smooth and fast. More research under way now....

*** Edit ***

I'm going to leave out a lot of tedious detail here unless it proves to be necessary. I've used ISBoxer for a long time on my WinXP-32bit installation. I've switched to Win7-64bit. ISBoxer under the new OS works sweet except for when one of my toons is zoning or loading worlds. During that 20 second period all my windows freeze up (and sometimes it appears the Alt key sticks although I'm mashing Ctrl + Alt + 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 a lot to switch toons just like in WinEQ2).

Among my troubleshooting steps I have done a lot of things today including:

Reinstalling the ISBoxerSuite.
Blowing away the old configuration and using the Wizard to create a new one from scratch.
Blowing away the original eqclient.ini file and letting EQ build another one.
Blowing away all the virtual files and letting ISBoxer recreate fresh ones.
Installing latest ATI HD5670 video & Microsoft directX 9.0 drivers.
Tried the EQPlayNice background Rendering limiter. (choppy background windows are fun!)
Trying multiple ISBoxer settings including:
>> Both designating single cores per toon and multiple cores per toon. ( I have a 3.0GHz Phenom-II X940 AMD Quad with 8GB DDR2).
>> Tried different character Hotswitch keys.
>> Tried all the different "region" related Hot Character and Region swapping keys.
>> Recreated Windows Layouts until I could do it in my sleep. (Seriously, 15 or 20 different times.)

The funny thing is, if I use WinEQ2 for the exact same toons I can switch windows easily and instantly even when multiple characters are zoning. So I'm not dead in the water or anything, for now I just quit using ISBoxer which means I lose my convenient KeyMaps and have to keep switching toons to do anything. Before I switched to Win7 I used ISBoxer very happily and reliably for many months.

If you read this far thanks! And thanks if anyone has any ideas for me to try!

Re: Can't switch windows when EQ is zoning

When a character is zoning or if a non-game program has the focus then ISBoxer doesn't appear to trap the Character Select Hotkeys.

In ISBoxer I set them to the same keys I'm accustomed to using under WinEQ2. CTRL + ALT + 1 gets me my first character and I just change the number to match the additional toons.

Under WinEQ2 those keystrokes continue to work even if the game didn't have the focus. Under ISBoxer (and Win7-64) it seems they only work when a game window has the focus and the selected character is not zoning or loading.

I rarely use the mouse when boxing so it took me a long time to figure this out.

Re: Can't switch windows when EQ is zoning

Unfortunately, during loading/zoning, EQ1 stops processing window messages, which is why some things stop working. WinEQ 2 implements a workaround for this specifically for EQ1 (which is why it works while zoning under WinEQ 2) that may be possible to implement in Inner Space. Last time I tried that it broke more things than it fixed, but I'll check it out again.

Re: Can't switch windows when EQ is zoning

I'm 6 boxing EQ with ISBoxer and Win 7 64. I have the same problem and also some partial solutions.

When I come to a zone boundary I make sure follow is working and run hard at the zone. Most times everyone will follow my main into the boundary and they all zone.

For books to/from PoK I use cursor feeds. You can see my layout here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1074 . Those video feeds along the bottom have a click bar behind them with 6 buttons. Each button opens up a cursor feed for the appropriate slave when I left click it. Ctrl+Middle Click closes it again. So, I run my team next to a book and then open each cursor feed and click on the book from inside the cursor feed, then close that cursor feed and move to the next slave. Using this method my main goes through last.

You could also try clicking on books with mouse repeater enabled but in my experience it is very hard to line everything up correctly.

Re: Can't switch windows when EQ is zoning

I can switch windows while zoning just fine with InnerSpace itself, but not after adding the ISBoxer configurations. I'm not sure what ISBoxer changes within InnerSpace that breaks it, but it does.
