Insta-kick on Test when boxing (the new anti-boxing code?)

Hello all,

I have no definite information on this issue, and am starting this thread in the hope that as anyone learns more about it that they can share.

Since the anti-boxing code went in on test for a brief trial run I and other ISBoxer users have found that intermittently all characters will be kicked from the game. This differs from a client-side/network issue in that the characters are instantly dropped from the zone (which since for me at least saves my characters from dying as this typically happens when I engage a mob and trigger my box set macros), and also if I have characters loaded but outside of the zone/instance then they remain untroubled.

To be clear, the anti-boxing code is currently present on test but disabled, so this is hopefully just a bug. On the four occasions this has hit me, three where when I had pulled a mob to camp and triggered my box crew to engage, but one was when I was just running back to camp with a tagged mob - no ISBoxer functionality used. There was a brief chat in the Test general channel and other ISBoxer users confirmed that they had suffered the issue, and no non-ISBoxer users spoke up.

Has anyone else anything to add?

I do not think this is anti boxing, more anti bot, I have suffered similar experiences in wow , which has no problem with boxing, I think that it is more to do with software to catch the botters, and we as Mutiboxers are spamming our keys to get our macros/isboxer ect to step through there cycles, this is sometime interpreted as questionable practice by the guard software that is monitoring your input to the server so it kicks you.

I have had this a few time over the last couple of years usually in wow when its an 'Oh Shit ' moment and extra key spamming follows ... at least that been my experience.

The WoW thing is a per-client limit on the networking, where if you attempt to spam the server with too much data (e.g. because your character is pressing tons of buttons, maybe more than really intended, and trying to fire off lots of abilities) you get disconnected. This can be fairly common if you have a button that turns 1 key press into several key presses, e.g. "I just want a button to hit 5,6,7,8,9,0 all at once when I press 1" and then spam the shit out of it.

I'm not sure there is enough information to confirm what happened to you, but definitely good to discuss!

Something is definitely going on with test, I have been regularly kicked the last few days. After the patch today, I can only log in one account at a time and it doesn't matter which account I can only log in one. There is also a new message "This world only allows a maximum of one account per machine at a time". Pretty sure it is the code for the No Boxers server. Bums me.....

Well if you are trying to run more than one game client per machine, then duh!; their news and forums posts both indicated that you would only be able to run 1 game client per machine.

If you are getting this when running 1 game client per machine, and over multiple machines, then it would more imply they are using primitive IP monitoring, which will bum out all the family players.

Derrr, their news and forum posts said nothing about the no boxing code applying to test, I imagine it is just passing through Test as well a test environment, and I was responding to another user who was having an issue so they would know they aren't alone.

Way to welcome a new user....

Welcome.....

Actually it was in the release notes for 2 Dec 2015... (although they did disable it again, but I guess it has been re-enabled silently)
https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/ind ... 15.228751/
and I found mention on the 25 Nov 2015 release notes too.
https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/ind ... 15.228473/

... and it appears that some others were also receiving the account limits on Test yesterday.
Test Update 12/07/15

edit: rearrange.

Re: Insta-kick on Test when boxing (the new anti-boxing code?)

The anti boxing code in the test client is active at all times, however they decide serverside if the server is going to disconnect you or not when acting on the info it receives.

Phinny goes live tomorrow, test should work normally again then, unless they plan on expanding their enforcement to other servers, but we don't expect that at this time.

If Phinny is a success, that wouldn't surprise me though, I guess we will know tomorrow and in the weeks to come.
If you value your eq boxing accounts, stay away from Phinny, I know I will.

They did not disable it again on Test, it is still active right now and has been since yesterday's patch.

I agree EqMule. Stay off Phinny

Thinking about wandering back to EQ. Is the anti-boxing code still active on Test?

Thanks,
