EDIT: Changed setup and removed the windows layout (just using two windows and switching with windows window switching). Same thing happened, ended crawlingly slow. I then set down the graphics detail to extremely high performance, but the fps remained at 15. I then quit InnerSpace and reloaded it, fps spiked up to 50.
I've identified the cause of this particular issue where InnerSpace.exe can start using too much CPU on one core. Inner Space build 5355, now the current "dev build" of IS, corrects this issue. To switch to the dev build, right click IS in the system tray (notification area) and select Patcher, check "Download development (test) patches", then close and restart Inner Space. After it patches up it will restart again, and this particular issue should be solved.
However, I wouldn't say this is necessarily the same issue others in this thread are having
