three unrelated questions

Hey all,

I just got my first DxNothing setup on my 2nd monitor, and there are three issues I have that I was hoping to get answers to.

1 - When logging in, I noticed my 2nd and 3rd accounts weren't logging in, even with key repeat. This always worked before, with the old 1600x1200 monitor. This new one is 1920x1080. Then I figured out why. The login screen for accounts 2 & 3 is slightly higher, so the buttons don't overlap! Once I get to the char select screen, everything is lined up, though.

2 - When I select the DxNothing window on monitor 2, I see the Windows taskbar on monitor 1, and when coming back to monitor 1, have to click once to regain focus.

3 - When I set up a repeater area, I chose "all other", but that also puts it on the DxNothing window, which I don't want. How do I get rid of that?

Thanks for the help :)

I'm not familiar with EQ, but perhaps there is something "stuck" in the old virtual files that were created? You can try deleting them, and then re-exporting from ISBoxer to recreate them.

If you don't want to have to click to focus a window, then you need to adjust the focus follow mouse setting in your Window Layout. This requires that you select an option that doesn't start with "always" or "any time" for Swap Hot Character to main region.

You can create an ATG that doesn't include dxNothing and then use it as the Target of the RR. In fact, you may already have one created for you called "Follower," and if so, set the Target to be "other Follower" without quotes (I believe that will work for RRs).

Re: three unrelated questions

Thanks, Mirai, I'll see what I can do to get it working tonight.

For #1, I meant to say a repeater region, not key repeat. Before the login windows were lined up, now they're not. What are the "virtual" files you refer to? I can certainly try moving them out, and seeing if that works.

For #2 and #3, that seems pretty straightforward, so shouldn't have any issues with those fixes. For #3, I saw "Other Follower" but didn't know what it was, so I didn't choose it. Now I know :)

I did have another question that I was going to look at one of the videos tonight to see how to configure. Right now, I have a VideoFX window in my DxNothing from each character source, showing the cast bar and some hotbars, so that I can click those when needed without swapping to those screens. What I also want to configure is a smaller VideoFX region for each char, showing a scaled down version of the whole screen, just so I can keep an eye on what each on is doing (is it following, etc), and that, if clicked on, brings that char's window to the front on the main monitor. Is that something that can be done?

Thanks again!

Virtual files are the game configuration files that ISBoxer creates for each character.
For EQ these will be eqclient-charname.ini and eqlsplayerdata-charname.ini. These are in the EQ game folder. Replace charname with the character name you are having issues with.

The other possibility for this one is that your window layout is not using the same resolution/aspect ratio for each of the games (which might happen if you have multiple swap groups). This will depend largely on the window layout you are using.
BUT the more likely reason will be as MiRai has inferred, and that the per character config files are using a different resolution to that of the window layout, so you should do has he has suggested first.

Re: three unrelated questions

You guys are awesome! I have resolved all three issues :)

Now, I followed that video, and I have the smaller size views of the three char slots in my DxNothing window. But I don't swap to those screens when I click on those views in the DxNothing window. I think I set it up per the video, but obviously I'm missing something.

Gratz.. it's nice to get stuff resolved, even if it does lead onto more questions.

In your Character Set is an option for the "Video FX Focus (switch to window) hotkey". By default this is usually ALT+Mouse1, rather than Mouse1, so you will need to use the correct combination to switch.
You will also need to have your viewers configured with the "Enable VideoFX Focus hotkey" option selected, otherwise this hotkey is disabled.
Also, some people find they need to click twice (those that change the hotkey to Mouse1). Once to focus the DXNothing Window, and again to actually switch. To get around that, you can set (on your Window Layout), the "Focus game windows via mouse without clicking (Focus follows mouse)" option.
If that is greyed out, then set the "Swap Hot Character to main region" drop down to one of the "Only when I...." or "Never" options.

phew... there are a bunch of additional things that go with that one...

Re: three unrelated questions

Two of those three steps are already set up :) I'll do the third one tonight (making it mouse1 instead of alt-mouse1).

One more question ;) Not that it needs a solution, I'm just curious...

I set up the stuff per the video, and it works, with this caveat. I don't see the thumbnail views in the DxNothing window until I hit the hotkey combo associated with the VideoFX hotkey I made (like in the video, he has it set to alt-1, I think).

Once I hit that hotkey, the thumbnails are there for the rest of the session. I just have to hit it that one time.

PS - Thanks so much to Bob & Mirai!!!

Correct. This is one of those things with creating VideoFX via actions in ISBoxer. But there is something you can do about it :).

If you want them to "auto load", then on your Character Set, there is an option down the bottom for "Perform this mapped key when this character set is loaded/reloaded", Point that at your mapped key for your Video FX and it will execute it when you launch your character set (or when you export from ISBoxer set, which will reload). Just set the target to Window:Current, and the actions in the Mapped Key will take care of loading on the correct place (they should do this already).

I have a bunch of stuff that runs on character set load/reload, so I actually have a Character Set Activate mapped key, which in turn runs the VideoFX mapped key, amongst a bunch of others, so you aren't limited to what you set here.

Re: three unrelated questions

Once again, thanks for the awesome reply! I'll have all of this set up tonight, and then back to the fun in EQ :)

And I'm continually amazed at just how MUCH functionality there is in ISB. It blows my mind!
