Group Movement

Hi Guys,

I'm playing on the Ragefire server and I've picked up. I'm trying to box 4 mages. The issue I'm having is movement, everything else works fine I've read all the guides and the setups seemed to work, EXCEPT for movement. I can't seem to get the crew to follow the lead mage with any sort of accuracy once I get out of an open field. Dungeons are impossible and tree's are bad news.

The whole reason I got ISBoxer was because the mage armies where able to follow nearly ontop of each other and navigate dungeons with what appeared to be relative ease.

So long winded, how do I set ISBoxer up so my characters stay synced and follow very closely together? the ingame /fol command is nearly worthless.

Re: Group Movement

Double shrink and follow works fine.

The crews stacked on top of each other *while moving* are using hacks.

Re: Group Movement

Could be a hardware issue. I just use the /follow and that works mostly fine for me, even in-doors with cramped passageways and turns. Do you lag? Look at task manager and see how much memory % you use.

I have one computer for just my warrior and a second computer running isboxer for my sham/enchant/wiz/. Follow use to be not usable, but once I added more ram, it works fine.

Re: Group Movement

The follow command is OK if you use come caution. If you are going to make a turn, slow down and overrun the turn point if you can. If you are at a 90-degree turn that you can't run past, run into the corner and pause while the other chars catch up. Then slide up the wall a bit slowly. Someone compared this to driving a truck with a long trailer; fortunately we don't need to back up.

That said, there are places that I stop autofollow and move each char individually for a little bit. These are usually spots with narrow walkways or bridges that you can fall off.

I used to use /follow on dial-up connections, so I appreciate how well /follow works these days.

Re: Group Movement

If there's not too much lag from the internet, you can break follow click "broadcast" and then mouse/keyboard all your isboxer controlled accounts that way too.

Re: Group Movement

I don't think there is a legal (non-hack) way to have follow work as well as you'd like. As others said, with care and practice you can get it to work well enough to be useful, but that's a matter of careful play, not a technical solution.

You spoke about mage armies. I almost always have a mage in my group... and when I have to navigate any tricky run I tend to just run the mage ahead and have him call the group.

Doh. That's right. Ragefire, Your mages can't do that yet? Nevermind.
