Confused about ISB macros

I created a new macro set and assigned it to the character set. I created a simple macro and assigned it to key 2.

Then I created a mapped key that calls the named macro and assigned that to key 2. Nothing happens in game when I press 2.

The Wiki says "All WoW Macros configured through ISBoxer are set up in game by the ISBoxer Addon". I don't see the ISB macros in game.

If you're creating macros while the game is running you will need to do a /reload. If they're still not working, then share your profile.

Here is the profile:

The macro set is called "Arcane Mage" and there is one macro in it. It is called in the Combat mapped key by "WoW Macro Ice Ward & Ice Barrier".

Re: Confused about ISB macros

Well, the "2" key is most definitely being sent, but isn't "2" already bound to something else in game? By default, it's bound to the second button of action bar 1, so by telling ISBoxer to bind the macro to "2" it's essentially trying to "double bind" two things to "2," which isn't possible, and it's going to conflict with what's assigned to the action bar. You should see a message in the chat window stating that there is a possible conflict when you first log into the game world, or after a /reload of the UI.

So, in order to avoid a conflicting key binding you will need to choose more abstract key combinations for your macros created in ISBoxer. Most people use a combination of modifiers in addition with numbers and letters—Things that you'll never accidentally press or key bind on your own.

I reckon that if you add a combination of modifiers, say Ctrl and Alt, to the key combination of that macro it will work just fine... Unless, of course, you have something already bound to Ctrl+Alt+2 in the game.

Re: Confused about ISB macros

Yes, of course. I thought that removing the skill that is bound to that key would be sufficient but now I realize that is silly.

I never use modifiers for skills that I use in combat. Even though I've been using a keyboard for decades I still fumble with those keys.

Thanks for your help and for the great videos.

I don't know if you were just making a statement, or whether you were assuming that you can't use modifiers on WoW macro key combinations in ISBoxer because you don't personally use them in game, but just to clarify...

You're not physically pressing that key combination assigned to the macro, but every single spell/ability/macro/action is required to have a key binding of some sort attached to it, in game, in order to properly work. So, just like you can set up ISBoxer to send 1 when you press 1 using a Keystroke Action, you are setting up ISBoxer to send <macro key combination that you've assigned> when you press 2 using a Named WoW Macro Action.

Re: Confused about ISB macros

That is a good point. I forgot that all mapped keys don't automatically get passed through to WoW.
