Not Seeing Characters

For some reason ISBoxer isn't seeing my ragefire characters it's only seeing my The Rathe characters how can I correct it? I'm new to Boxing.

Re: Not Seeing Characters

Maybe...
  1. The RageFire exe is not added to Inner Space. http://www.isboxer.com/wiki/HOWTO:Add_a_Game
  2. The characters have not been logged in
  3. The characters have the same name as The Rathe characters and are being "blended".
  4. The data has not been saved correctly (or the file format has changed)
  5. The data is not in a default location
The first 2 items are easy enough to fix, the others, not so much.

Anyway, you don't NEED ISBoxer to find the characters automatically. This is a helper, which is nice, but you can type in the details on the right hand side there, select the appropriate game/gameprofile (you did Add the Ragefire exe right?) and hit the Add Character button. Job done. This will use a few more of your limited keystrokes, but sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do (if you're a woman, it was just a turn of phrase, please feminize it as per your want).

Re: Not Seeing Characters

I added the game to aka Everquest to inner space. The characters have been logged in. The characters are different in name I just tested that. It still doesn't see it. FYI the everquest.exe has been added ragefire is the name of the server.

Re: Not Seeing Characters

If the executable is called eqgame.exe or everquest.exe or Launchpad.exe (and the folder that Launchpad.exe is in has an eqgame.exe) then it will look in that same folder for a file(s) with the filespec of *_characters.ini. It will then look for a section in that ini file called [Characters], and it will then return the values from that provided that each record contains 2 elements split by a comma. These should be CHARNAME,SERVERNAME.

Now you know the specifics. If the file(s) does not exist because it has not been created (this is a game created file, and my install does not have this so I don't know how or when it gets created), or the layout or format has changed under ragefire (yes I'm aware it is a server and not the actual game), then they wont be automatically populated.

As I said earlier though, this is not actually needed. It is a convenience thing. That said. If you post back with some information that indicates that the location of the information has changed, or the format of the information has changed, then I'm sure it can be corrected.

Re: Not Seeing Characters

I have it putting to the eqgame.exe not the Launchpad one since I always patch with the normal way.

Well, that will be why, it does not match the filespec of "*_characters.ini"

Seeing as there is a suitable workaround (which the poor people not playing certain games have to use) I can't imagine that an update will be rushed; but it should be coming SoonTM. Thank you for the info.

Re: Not Seeing Characters

Who do I need to talk to about extending my membership due to a bug within ISBoxer due to Daybreak Studio's making changes? I just purchased the membership.

Re: Not Seeing Characters

Extend your membership, for which bug? The not detecting your characters for ragefire?

As I said earlier, this is a convenience helper and you don't NEED it to function in order for you to setup a team and begin playing.

Image
Type in the character name, select the game settings hit the Add Character to Team button.
You'd have to do all this anyway, except instead of typing you can select a character name from the "From EQ1". Even with the Auto Detected they don't automatically add themselves to a team.

I guess you could get a bug finder reward for the application in question I suppose. Consider your membership of ISBoxer extended.
