SPACE as a modifier key?

Hi all,
I have a quick question with the configuration of ISBOXER.

In my current setup I remapped my SPACE button to CONTROL. So basically SPACE became a modifier button which I can use in my games.

Now I would like to use the following key combination in my game:

SPACE+D = K

So if I press SPACE+D it get recognized as CTRL+D and it send K to the game.

The problem which I have is that SPACE cannot be used as a modifier key in the Key-Remap. Would it be possible to add SPACE as a modifier or is there another work-around to make it work?

Many thanks for your help.

Re: SPACE as a modifier key?

Lax explained how to do this here, and while it's referring to G-keys, the process is the same.

Re: SPACE as a modifier key?

Thank you MiRai, I will try to implement this as soon as I am back home. Hopefully the logic becomes clear to me as soon as I create this in ISBOXER. If I understand this correctly then by pressing Space I basically create a new layers of keys which are active as long as Space is pressed. Correct?

In the meanwhile I did a bit more research on Innerspace and the “Bind” and “GlobalBind” hotkeys. I assume I could also use this approach to remap Space in Control, couldn’t I?

Thanks

Yes

You can, but it will give you the same result as remapping a key in ISBoxer, because ISBoxer does exactly that. Bind and GlobalBind.
If ISBoxer is sending CTRL instead of SPACE due to a key remap, and then you press D, then you are sending CTRL+D to the game, and not CTRL+D to ISBoxer. You are sending SPACE+D to ISBoxer, because that is what you are pressing.

If you want to turn your Spacebar in to a big CTRL key, then you need to remap your keyboard which is essentially telling Windows that "When I receive this scan code, I want you to turn it into this virtual key code".
Any program that needs to stay resident (in the system tray) in order for the adjusted layout to work is probably not the right method (although you could try one I suppose); but the correct methods are to use registry tweaks (changing scan codes under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout) or the Microsoft Keyboard Layout generator http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=22339 and then using that keyboard layout rather than the bog standard EN-US layout (or whichever layout you happen to be using).
