New to Isboxer, need help setting up profile

Hello folks,

I figured out how to use auto follow and assist (although fi I dont invite my toons precisely the right way with mercs already out it breaks autofollow) and I saw some things about ATG and such, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to setup my team.

I am running a Shadowknight, shaman, and bard with a tank merc, a healer merc, and a melee dps merc. I am wondering what the best setup is to handle healing while DPSIng. I plan to run the shadowknight as my main toon and control the team from him too. So aside form just creating clickbars for each class and putting them on my SK, whats the best way to setup healing and DPS rotations? seems like there are much betetr ways of doing this than just creating a dozen clickbars.

Thanks,

Yes, you usually need to be consistent with the invite/accept order of your team, and keep the same order each time. There is an advanced configuration that you can do that gets around this, but at some point you will usually come across an expectation of ordering, with Group Leaders and members. Firescue17 goes through some of the concepts here http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4241, but some of this has moved on. Note it is a concept only and not a fully functioning setup (i.e. it requires a lot of reading and for you to do the implementation).

Yes there is a better way for rotations and healing.

DPS rotations are easily taken care of via using mapped keys to send different keystrokes to different toons. This is taken further by the Pro Config http://www.isboxer.com/wiki/Style:MMO_-_Pro, which allows you to configure per class, or other defining characteristics. Also the template concept from Firescue17 I linked to above takes this further (he has some videos linked too). Another link for the rotation concept is http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... mer#p28442. In the end, I have a single key for DPS rotations and I press it a lot. I do sometimes use another for interrupts, but it depends on what game your playing as to how many keys you end up needing.

Healing rotations can be built into the Pro Config too, although, IMO, that works best for AOE heals. For targeted heals then you might want to look at Clickbars http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=6593 (you can do the same with Menu's but it requires some custom templates), or you can use mapped keys, although the targeting I find is usually the biggest pain with that, but if you're good at remembering what keys do what, then it may be very easy to have a rotation that you can swap targets around on.

Regarding healing, I put the DRU - SHM Intervention line and CLR Arbitration / Epic 2.0's right into their DPS Rotations so they're spammed every time they're available. I also float a CLR or SHM HoT directly in their DPS rotation. With a SHK tank, rolling HoTs and an arbitration / intervention every 90 seconds I almost never, ever have to direct heal.

For heavy tanking, I virtualize an alternate DPS rotation which spams heals, PRs, and Wild Growth only. In this manner I don't have to worry about target switching.

I don't mess around with any click bars or VFX for healing group mates. Spamming Group Heal usually works. If it doesn't, the box is going to die before I could fumble around with the mouse or some funky hotkey to target and heal an off slot anyway.

firerescue17, I love your UI. none of my toons have tracking, but I like how ordered everything is. I put together my own UI from pieces I found on eqinterface.com, but im a bit OOCD so if everything doesn't line up right and is 1 pixel off it bugs me.

I am boxing a SK SHM BRD at the moment, but considering dropping the SHM for a dru. That way I have teleports, tracking, etc. I will miss the shammy buffs but I can always jump him on, buff the party, and then log in druid.

I am facing several difficulties: Not knowing how to play the classes, not knowing their AA's, and then how to configure is boxer to be as efficient as possible. Right now I have a click bar setup on my SK that has the bard songs (selos, melody, aoe mezz) and the shaman heals and group shrink. I use the default standard menu click bar for my 1-= hotkeys, and then I just put the rotation I want on the hotkeys. I use mostly 1-7. I plan on making single click bars here and there for special spells or AA's or such later on.

So right now when I play, I pull with SK (until I learn how to pull with bard, but I want to switch between clients as little as possible) bring him back to group, hit my assist key for all to assist, then just spam 1-7. if I need heals or something I click on the click bars I made. Seems to work pretty good, is there a way to improve upon that? I am at work so cannot upload screenshots or anything.

I have looked at the pro config and read about some pretty crazy stuff people have done, but its beyond me. Im happy just to be able to play my 3 toons right now. I am just doing dailies and HOT courtyard right now, so I am not doing anything overly challenging yet.

If it works for you, carry on and have fun. Is there a better way depends upon what your goals are. Could you simplify your play, yes. However, the more simple gameplay becomes, the more complex your profile will be. The best way to learn ISBoxer is one step at a time. Build something. Use it. Think about what works and what you could improve. There are definitely diminishing returns on efficiency of gameplay vs. the complexity of your profile.

I run combat for any combination of 9 classess and 10 characters off 3 buttons. It took me years of experimenting with hundreds of hours spent on trashed concepts which didn't work the way I wanted. Not everyone is going to be interested in the intricacies of ISBoxer. If one runs a static group of 3 characters and 3 mercs and has no alts, they may not even *need* the intricacies.

Very valid points. I would like to have it as simple as 3 or 4 buttons to run all three characters. I shall do as you suggest. Get my team up and running, learn the classes, then improve my setup bit by bit.

Thanks!
