Re: im completely lost with everything

Thanks guys. I do appreciate the help even though I don't quite understand it all, yet. The last video that Lax posted is exactly what i've been looking for. A guide to actually go through and set things up and explain what they do while setting them up. Even though it was for WoW, I should be able to convert some of that into EQ. I will probably have to watch it a dozen times to understand all of it, but it should give me some direction at least.

So Lax, If I were to say "I want to push Q and when I push Q I want my monk to throw a star at a mob, I want the shaman to cast slow, the mage to cast malo, and the zerker to auto attack". Does this statement help more so than what i've been asking? From what i'm understanding is if:

1 on the monk throws a star
7 on the shaman casts slow
4 on the mage casts malo
1 on the zerker is auto attack

that you can set up Q to send out a 1 to the monk, a 7 to the shaman, a 4 to the mage, and a 1 to the zerker? Am I understanding this correctly?

Re: im completely lost with everything

Sounds good to me. Since you are using single keystrokes, you will probably be using a keystroke action. (I hate to be definitive, because I am learning this myself)

You'll want to add a new mapped key. By default "Always On" is always active, or you can create a new keymap and assign it to your character set. Open the top-level Key Maps, and open the "Always On" branch. In the lower window, right-click on Mapped Keys and select Mapped Key Wizard. (Doing it without the wizard is just as easy). You will create 1 step, the step will have 4 actions. Each action has a keystroke action which sends a key to one of the characters..

Edit: Just realized I had actions/steps reversed.

Yes.

Start with Key Re-Map in the Mapped Key Wizard, and put this in Combat so it can be toggled off when you want to use Q for some other reason (like typing).

Give it the Hotkey Q, and tell it to send 1, and pick the Monk window in the Target box. Finish the wizard with it like this.

After you set that up, open up the Combat Key Map (select it in the top left pane), then expand your new Key re-map for Q in the bottom left (you can easily find it, it will say Q) so under it you see Steps, 1. Click the 1 under Steps.

Now to the right, you should see where it says 1 -> <your monk>, under "Actions". Right click Actions in order to add a new Action. Under Keystroke Actions, select Keystroke Action. This is the most basic Action, you just give it a key to press, and where to send it. Pick 7 for the Key combination, and in the Target have it sent to your Shaman. Do this same thing to add an Action to send 4 to the mage, and another to send 1 to the zerker.

Export to Inner Space, and now Q is pretty much set up as you described

I am in the same boat. The concepts at a high level make sense, but the application is difficult. I used to box with multiple computers and nostromo n52s and now am trying to do it with one computer.

Ultimately, I need to get to the point of firerescues virtualization like a pro. Just trying to do it one piece at a time.

Hopefully I can figure this out using this additional information.

Re: im completely lost with everything

Thank you for all the help thus far. I am starting to understand and make sense of things. Something else that was mentioned to me, is that you can actually have hotbars of other toons on your mains screen, is this true, and how does this work?

Like if I wanted my shaman's hot bars to show up on my monks screen, is this actually possible, or was the person confused about something? lol

Thanks!

Thanks. I was able to go through this and get it setup and watch the videos on it. However, this seems to only be a view of the hotbars...is there a way to make them live to where I can click them from my monks screen?

Yes one of the videos on the page covers this, here is a link to the time you want in the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73ATj87XXd4&feature=player_detailpage&list=PLtaeemZCwSPzLomc2eWUeuVR_ic9QX3mg#t=241

Pretty much just open the in-game ISBoxer Control Panel with Ctrl+Shift+Alt+G, click on your existing Video FX Viewer that you want to add Repeater Pass-thru to, tick the "Repeater pass-thru" box and click Apply (remember to Save your changes to make this permanent). If you want keyboard pass-thru in addition to mouse (aside from Alt, Ctrl, and Shift which are included for you with the mouse) there is a second tick box for that. Otherwise you can mouse over your VFX and still type in the main window or use hotkeys in the main window as needed.

Re: im completely lost with everything

Just don't give up Finchy!
It is a very steep learning curve but the benefits are tremendous
I learned by watching Firescues videos (dozens of times each)
Downloading his EQ template (which is outdated)
and tearing it all apart, starting over, tearing it apart again until I finally started to understand a little about what he was doing
I also came here and asked many questions
Virtualization is the way to go no doubt but it takes some time and patience to understand and apply what you want to happen in game

I run 3 characters but will be adding a 4th soon
