Yeah in really sorry for the confusion. Your taking time to help me and I'm not even giving you the right specs.. My wife is pregnant and has been hounding me all day long. I was reading lots of articles and I got VERY mixed up. Truly, I'm sorry..
HERE are my specs:
Asus X79-deluxe Mobo
I7 4820k CPU
Gtx 780

Sorry again for the mixup.....

EDIT
well i downloaded an updated patch for my mobo.. i had 0401 and just downloaded 0403 and apparently the update help system stability.. go figure i forgot about my mobo drivers and looked at EVERYTHING else...

will advise....

Re: TDR/Framerate issues since RoS

When you switched out your video card, did you do a clean NVIDIA driver install? If not, that's probably what I would do at this point. Uninstall the drivers and then install.

Also, google turned up a registry key you can try adjusting to work around the issue. Source: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/tdr-fix-here-it-actually-works/520396f9-f196-4e2b-a97a-94aae2102cd0
The TDR (time our detection) error. It's a big problem and their are many threads on this, and other, forums relating to it. It can come from many things - Hardware or software.
- Time out Detection is a feature of Vista and Win7 that is supposed to prevent premature BSOD's
caused by system lag, but unfortunately, for many it is no better than getting a BSOD, and no easier to troubleshoot.
- The main reason the graphics drivers are reported to fault is they are the last thing running as a result
of whatever causes the lag, but they are not always the source of the lag.
Win7 TDR is set to 2 sec , but Monopoly$oft has advised in recent times to use an 8 sec setting.
Creating the registry entry below can help prevent TDR's.

Open regedit then -
Navigate to -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Graphics Drivers.
Right click on the open field and click on New / DWORD (32bit) Value,
Then name it: TdrDelay -> double click it -> Set the value to 8.

Re: TDR/Framerate issues since RoS

I'm curious as to which drivers you're currently using, which other versions you've tried, and where are you downloading these drivers from?

If it is a hardware issue, then I'd probably suspect the PSU before the GPU (but it's probably a toss up).

In addition to that, ALWAYS perform a clean installation (it's an option during install).

Re: TDR/Framerate issues since RoS

I can not recall the exact names of the drivers I tried from nvidia but the last 4 I did a clean uninstall and fresh install. I just started four down from the most recent and worked my way up. All had TDR when playing in windowed mode. When playing in 4 tiled full screen my computer would crash with the fans ramping up first.

I tried te REGEDIT trick. Worked for a little while but eventually TDR happened. Thanks for the responses and support guys.
I am going to go get a new PSU tomorrow at Frys, I currently am using the RM750 Corsair. Which "should be enough" but I'm out of ideas...
All temps are below 40c on all components.
X79-deluxe mobo
Gtx780

I was thinking maybe it's a ram issue?
I have 2 sticks that are 1333 and others are 1866mhz.
My x79 is running them both at 1333mhz.. Maybe get new sticks with 1866mhz?

As for where I downloaded the drivers from I went to support.asus/x79 deluxe and installed the most recent;
Intel chipset
SATA drivers
BIOS drivers
After I did that d3 was running great for 12 hours straight. Then BAM TDR.
I shut it down thinking maybe it was just on for too long (even though temps wee still below 40c)
Tried it this morning and 20 minutes in I had another TDR.
I appreciate the help guys, love isboxer..
What kind of PSU should I upgrade too?
should I get that matching ram?

Thanks!!!!

Different speeds of RAM can definitely cause issues. You should never mix and match RAM. I would suggest removing the 1333 stuff and just running the 1866 sticks by themselves to see if that's the problem. You can also test the RAM with Memtest86+.

MichaelHCboxer wrote:What kind of PSU should I upgrade too?

I'm a fan of the Corsair AX series. Now, Corsair lists the RM750 @ $130 and the AX760 @ $180, and while they look very similar on paper, the AX series PSU should carry higher quality components (as well as being 80 Plus Platinum certified) for better power delivery.

I would like to say that I realize that it can suck when it comes down to swapping around hardware, especially if you have to keep taking trips to the store to buy new components to test with. So, we are trying to make educated guesses here rather than just throwing out random components. :)

EDIT: After re-reading my post I figured it needed some clarification (and I had another idea).

1) Run only one type of RAM and it should be a matched set. You might even try running only a few sticks or RAM -- 4 is a good number for a quad-channel board -- but MAKE SURE they're in the correct DIMM slots in order to power the correct channels. That information is in your motherboard manual.
2) You might also try swapping the GPU to a different PCIe slot.
3) Could still be a PSU or even a motherboard issue, both of these help deliver power to the GPU/PCIe slot.
4) Try a different OS? Maybe? Not too sure on this one, though.

Re: TDR/Framerate issues since RoS

Memtests came back A-OK!
The 2 1333mhz are in correct slots
The 2 1866 are in correct slots
I an going to go to frys tomorrow and get a new motherboard (still the x79) née PSU and get 2 new sticks of 1866 ram.

I n kw the manager in components and he'll swap it all at no cost (besides difference in price of course.
As for new OS.. I hate windows 8. Love windows 7

Alright, well it makes me feel a bit better that you're able to swap all this stuff around without having to pay a restocking fee or come up with excuses at the counter on why you need to exchange something -- I know that customer support can sometimes ask you 20 questions. :) Remember that you should do your best to get identical RAM to what's already in your system -- Much less room for compatibility issues that way.

I know both the motherboard and PSU can be an absolute pain to swap out, but it is probably easier to do both of them at once rather than one at a time. I really hope this fixes the issue for you because after all of this, there probably isn't much else to check. -_-

Re: TDR/Framerate issues since RoS

Everything was going great for 5 hours this morning.
BAM
Screen turned black and computer just kept running. after ten minute i eventually just turned off the PSU.
No overheat problems at all. The GPU was actually using Less power with my newly upgraded PSU and is running even cooler!
I'm about to just quit!

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are the event log details in order from 9:03 am to 11:16am.
I uninstaleed the gigabyte NIC card and used the mobo's card, but for somereason im still getting
"Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection
Network link is disconnected."
Could that seriously cause BSOD? (no blue screen though, my monitor just turned off compleltely and my computer was still running)

I went to RUN: DXDIAG because some people said running diablo 3 on DX9 solved there issue.
I Noticed that i was running DIrectX 11 32 bit!!! .. I changed it to 64bit.

Could that have been the problem?

If i run diablo 3 in directx9 would that cause me to have to change my nvidia drivers?
EDIT:
Found this on BNET
