how do i make a follow focus key map?

I just want something to make my toons follow the active leader. /follow focus macro inside WoW is what I used with Keyclone. It worked and I understood it. I"m struggling with this software. It looks super advanced and impressive but it might be too good for me. I wasn't a Computer Sciene major =(.

So I made a hotkey under Key Maps, General. It's alt-F. Hold any keystroke actions is set to default on (not sure what it does but sounds good). I ignored the rest of the stuff on this front page as I don't understand it and it doesn't seem relevant. I turned off FTL modifies mostly because I don't know what they are. Follow the Leader? Focus the Leader? Who knows?

Target: Window: All w/o Current (no need for the leader to follow himself)

Key Combination: ALT+F (this really confuses me. I don't want ALT+F sent o the game - I want /follow focus to be sent to the game)

I ignored "Display in steps" as again I dunno what it is and hopefully not important.

Commands:
/follow focus (yes! please toons, do it! please please please!)

targeting helper:
I left this stuff blank.

So it sure as hell doesn't work. All the toons focus the main toon just fine but they won't follow him when I press Alt+F. I feel like I'm the only one that can't figure this thing out. Should I make macros in each toon's repetoire, assign ALT+F for a macro /follow focus? Would that fix this?

Re: how do i make a follow focus key map?

After making WoW Macros via ISBoxer, you must /reloadui (or /console reloadui), and the ISBoxer Addon must be enabled (if you're confused as to why it doesn't work, this is usually what you need to do). Every WoW Macro must be assigned to a Key Combination, in order to be activated when you press a key. That's just how WoW Macros work. If you have it set to Alt+F, and the Hotkey for your Mapped Key set to Alt+F, then ISBoxer is going to assign a macro in game to Alt+F, and activate it when you press Alt+F. The only other thing you need to be sure of is that your Key Map is assigned to your Character Set.

You do not need to make WoW Macros via ISBoxer. You can use the WoW Macros you already have in the game. Just use a Keystroke Action instead of a WoW Macro Action. If you just want to make hotkeys that you push that automatically broadcast to all, use "Many new Mapped Keys" instead of just "New Mapped Key" -- it is basically a wizard that helps you set up this type of simple mapping.

The reason you feel like you're the only one who doesn't get it is probably because you're making it harder than it is, and everyone else starts out with the wizard-generated setup (which eliminates the need to make the macros you're trying to make). There's also a Guide to ISBoxer for Keyclone Refugees: http://lavishsoft.com/downloads/mods/keyclone%20refugees.pdf which I thought MiRai linked to you, but you couldn't have read because it explains about FTL and the Many new Mapped Keys option I mentioned above, as well as how to import your Keyclone Do Not Pass list... and your F7,F8,F9,F10,F11 hotkeys (coupled with send F7,F8,F9,F10,F11 below it) should be the only thing you need to set besides that, to get what you had with KC working.

Re: how do i make a follow focus key map?

i read it. did I understand it? only partially. I don't get FTL although I've read bits about it all over the place. Maybe it'll click later. Anyway - the good news is that my macro is working this morning. I guess I thought save and then export all to innerspace and watching the windows all refresh made me think ISboxer was ready to go with the new changes.

Anyway I'm quite happy that it's working.

I was using a default config setup with an FTL Follow Me that the wizard had setup. It seemed to work but it wasn't always working. I found that if I mashed the hot key about 8 times it would work. So it took a few seconds to make my characters follow which got me through a few heroics but I was thinking of doing something harder like Forge of Souls - I use follow to move my toons out of fire/black holes in the floor so those few seconds had to be fixed. hmm although with instant pip I might just switch to said toon and run out.

Your reply was quite helpful - thankyou.

It seems to me that the Key Combination under actions is a dummy combination - that it doesn't matter what you put except to keep in mind that it gets sent to WoW. So if the WoW client has nothing assigned to the keys then so much the better. Is this right? Sorry it's not so intuitive for me.

Re: how do i make a follow focus key map?

This macro is working beautifully now. Sad thing about making posts like mine is that I"ll probably look back later and be like - damn I was a noob.

I still don't get FTL. Maybe it'll click later. Important thing is that this works and I feel like i have some control of how I setup the game =).
