My Melees Run Away After Combat

I cannot for the life of me get my Interact with Target - Keep CTM working correctly. Not, that is, unless your melee guys are *supposed* to run off into the distance after combat finishes. I've spent hours...well, at least minutes in front of the training dummies trying to work this thing out and I cannot. Will someone look at my configuration and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like it's working as intended. Welcome to the world of using Interact with Target and Click to Move. ;)

Re: My Melees Run Away After Combat

You have IWT built into your DPS Rotation Mapped Key. This means that every time you press that key you will be causing your melee to IWT again. I normally have IWT on a completely separate key, so that I have more control over when they do that. For PvE that works pretty well, but if you have a moving target in PvP you're sort of stuck with how you are doing it now. The other thing to ensure is that it is easy for you to hit your Follow Hotkey so that you can bring them under control again.

Hmm. I don't PvP -- I'm strcitly PvE, so I'll move IWT off onto another key. Do you have the single IWT action on that key? Do you suggest that I add it to the Combat Hotkeys?

It's probably better to separate your IWT from your DPS if you don't like them running off more than usual. My Assist/IWT is on a different button entirely.

That's what I was trying to figure out. By default in the "Pro" system, the Wizard puts Assist into the DPS rotation on the Combat Hotkey map. (I *think* anyway. I suppose it's possible I added that somewhere along the way.)

If I move it to another button along with IWT, then I'll lose the Assist for the ranged guys. Should I move both of those off of the Combat Hotkeys onto the individual key maps for each class? If not there, then where should the IWT/Assist for the melees and the simple Assist for the ranged guys go?

Re: My Melees Run Away After Combat

You can't assist from the class Key Map because at that point you've lost the Me in "Assist Me" (who to assist). You could use an alternate Assist Me that sends to an Action Target Group, but it still has to come from your Hotkey (or at least the window to assist)

Why not keep auto-assist on your DPS Rotation, assuming you like that behavior, and use a separate Hotkey for IWT?

Re: My Melees Run Away After Combat

Ok, I've done it that way. I was only asking because MiRai said he had both actions on a different button. And he's pretty successful. :)

Edit: Now I've had a chance to do it with a separate IWT/CTM key and it is *way* better. Now the melees only runaway part of the time instead of every single combat. Awesome. Thanks all.

Re: My Melees Run Away After Combat

Holy crap! A lot of the issues are discussed here: http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Interact_with_Target I probably saw it before but hadn't actually experienced the issues so I didn't understand the ramifications. Now I've seen all of it: toons running off into the sunset, toons running around the mob, etc.

At some point we need a section for "Using the Melee Configuration" that could go with some depth into different ways of implementing IWT/CTM with melee and mixed teams.
