Unable to Reload while Running

Starting up again and love the new ISBoxer. Having a few random issues though.
1. Whenever I update and reload the configuration during gameplay, it seems to corrupt the keybindings. IE. other windows start doing random things it seems. If I quit, export, and restart; then everything is fine.
2. Is there a good reference for doing window swapping with videoFX? Just love this feature :) I also find the alt-ctrl-# to be a pain to switch between chars. What do you guys like to use?
3. If I messed up some of the standard configuration ( cough, toggle broadcasting keymap, cough), do I have to reinstall isb to fix it? Or can I get a copy of that somewhere.

What are you updating during gameplay? The key bindings should be identical to when you re-launch, unless you're modifying WoW Macros through ISBoxer. If that's the case, then you need to reload the ISBoxer Addon, e.g. /console reloadui

3. If I messed up some of the standard configuration ( cough, toggle broadcasting keymap, cough), do I have to reinstall isb to fix it? Or can I get a copy of that somewhere.

Launch a second instance of ISBoxer, clear the configuration in it (File, Clear), and run the Quick Setup Wizard.

2. Is there a good reference for doing window swapping with videoFX? Just love this feature :)

What do you mean? "doing window swapping"?

I also find the alt-ctrl-# to be a pain to switch between chars. What do you guys like to use?

The only other common settings I've heard about for this are either extra keys provided by programmable keyboards (e.g. G-keys on a Logitech G series) or Numpad buttons

Re: Unable to Reload while Running

Thanks Lax. Thanks for the quick response. Yeah I was updating macros, so that was my problem.

I love the durability, bag, coord, and follow status you have on your WOW gameplay screen example. mind letting me know what addon you use for that?

What do you mean? "doing window swapping"?

I have 4 is# feeds on a separate monitor. I want to click or hit a key to switch out my main display and place the previous main display in the slot. That way the second monitor always shows the other 4 toons. Guess I could just add all 5, but then it's much harder to arrange on the screen and they get kinda small.

btw. I also have a weird thing where the number keys on the top of my keyboard will not broadcast, so I have to use the numpad keys when trying to type numbers to all screens ( keymaps toggled off, broadcast toggled on). Only started happening when I set up a new team. Figured I screwed up the config, but haven't had time to debug it yet.

Love the menus. easy to setup and now I can do click healing with no ingame addon slowing me down.

Re: Unable to Reload while Running

I use the G-keys on my Logitech keyboard and map G1, to IS1, G2 to IS2, et al. That way I can switch directly to each slot.

The Logitech g510 is only about $50 and you get 20 G-keys. It's particularly handy if you're using the "Pro" system instead of trying to map the various abilities to the same number keys (1-=).

I believe I was using Titan Panel

I'm not sure there's a guide that will fully walk you through that, but the basic idea is to use Video FX Actions to add/remove Video FX Viewers on the fly. What most people do is set up a Mapped Key for each of the Slots, for when they are activated (e.g. named "Slot 1 Active" "Slot 2 Active" etc). Each of those Mapped Keys will have Video FX Actions to remove the previous VFX and add the right ones. Then in your Character Set, for each Slot (in the top left pane select your Character Set, and in the bottom left pane select each Slot number) configure the "Do this Mapped Key" option.

Here's the closest guide I could find, by Alge: Advanced Video FX: No Holes!

Yeah I'd have to see your configuration to help with that one :) HOWTO: Share your configuration for better support

Yeah, that guide will allow you to do what you want without having to create a new layout of Video FX Viewers for each active Slot. Instead of placing your 4 Video FX Viewers in the active window as is shown in the guide(Target = Window: Current), just place them in a dxNothing window.

Re: Unable to Reload while Running

Thanks for all the replies!

Got the G keys working now to swap focus (I had a G510 and a G700). Just have to retrain my muscles to quit going for the ctrl-alt-# now.

Read through the algae's guide, and it all looks pretty straightforward. Tonight I will try and upload my config as I still haven't figured out why the # keys at the top of my keyboard don't work in broadcast mode. Not a show stopper, so hard for me to quit playing to look into fixing it.

Okay, finally loaded the configuration. Still trying to get the number keys at the top of the keyboard working when in broadcast mode.

Re: Unable to Reload while Running

I see nothing particularly wrong with your number keys in this configuration.

You say "when in broadcast mode" but I'm not sure what you mean by that. If you mean that you have Key Maps off, and Broadcasting Mode on, then pressing 1 is just going to send 1 to all windows instead of also assisting first; some people would describe that as "not working" because they expect the assist. If that's the case, turn Key Maps on?

There's a pretty big problem with your DPS Rotation mappings though. Your guys are going to "randomly" switch targets because you have several of the class-specific Key Maps using "Assist Me". What this does is tell all of the other characters to assist this guy! The assist goes in your Combat Hotkey (which you have placed directly in WoW-Combat), not in your class-specific mappings. If you want DPS Rotation to auto-assist, put Assist Me - > self above "Do DPS Rotation in Virtual Combat Key Map -> all" in WoW-Combat's DPS Rotation. Where the Hotkey is.

Re: Unable to Reload while Running

Thanks Lax, that explains why I would lose my target when spamming DPS key.
My issue with the number keys is really strange. I turn off keymaps and turn on broadcasting. Then I go to type in my password which contains numbers. If I use the number keys above the letter keys, it doesn't transmit. I have to type the numpad number keys. Everything works fine for keymaps though. Not a huge problem though as it's easy to work around.
