New User - LOTRO Crashes during Login Process - Help Please

Greetings,

I just purchased a license of ISBoxer, and I am new to using this software. I'm trying to launch 4 instances of LOTRO on a Windows 7 64-Bit SP1 machine. I used the Wizard to create the char slots in ISBoxer and then exported it to InnerSpace. I also added the game in InnerSpace and configured the application exe using TurbineLauncher.exe.

The Windows Layout is for 2 monitors with Char 1 on Main Display (Left Side), Show Taskbar, Swapping Enabled, Leave a Hole, and all other Chars on Display 2).

I can successfully launch multiple instances (4) of LOTRO when I launch it MANUALLY but NOT when I launch them through InnerSpace or ISBoxer.

The Launcher for LOTRO is TurbineLauncher.exe (Build Date: Jan 23, 2013).
After it logs on, the actual LOTRO application is LotroClient.exe.

Here are some diagnostics obtained using ISBoxer's diagnostics feature:

1) I MANUALLY launched LOTRO using TurbineLauncher.exe. This Diagnostic was taken when the LOGON screen (TurbineLauncher) was displayed on the screen.

2) I then MANUALLY Logged in and the LOTRO game (LotroClient.exe) SUCCESSFULLY STARTED.

3) I then CLOSED the running LOTRO game (LotroClient.exe) and Launched ONE LOTRO Client using InnerSpace (via 'ISBoxer Character Set Slots' menu item - Char Slot 1). At this point I took another Diagnostic while the Logon Screen (TurbineLauncher.exe) was displayed.

4) I then LOGGED ON (TurbineLauncher.exe) and it SUCCESSFULLY Launched the LOTRO game (LotroClient.exe) .. sometimes it FAILS during login of the FIRST character but this time it successfully logged on and started the LOTRO Client. The game is displayed on the Second Display (Right Monitor) scaled down to show in the lower left quarter of the screen (as it should). This diagnostic is of the running game (LotroClient.exe).

5) Using InnerSpace, I then launched a SECOND LOTRO Client (Char Slot 2). At this point, NOTHING seems to happen as I don't see the TurbineLauncher display on the screen. I did notice a screen flicker and the game instance I launched in Step 4 above now displays in FULL screen on the main Display (Left monitor). How do I get it to swap back to its original position on the second display? I assume a second instance needs to show first for it to swap with something.

However, I noticed in the Windows Task Manager that the running process for LOTRO for Char Slot 1 (which successfully launched in Step 4) is now labeled as 'is2 (Ctrl+alt+2) <CharNameHere>'. Somehow, InnerSpace thinks the FIRST Char Slot is now running as Char Slot 2. That is, I only have ONE game running at this point, but InnerSpace has now assigned the Game Instance for Char 1 to what InnerSpace thinks should be the Instance for Char 2.

Here is the Diagnostic for the LOTRO app (LotroClient.exe).

6) At this point, I used InnerSpace to Launch Char Slot 3. The Login Screen displays properly (TurbineLauncher.exe).

7) I then attempted to Login as Char 3. Somehow, this time it actually launched successfully (but it is tagged as Char Slot 4 by InnerSpace). I MISSED getting the diagnostics at this point because it seemed to work at this point (with the exception of the wrong instances for the char slots on screen). I had NEVER gotten it to actually launch 2 instances before.

8) I tried Launching the other 2 char slots but nothing seemed to happen at all. But I finally got the Logon screen to display again (TurbineLauncher.exe).

9) This time when I attempted to log on, it CRASHED (as I had experienced before I collected this log but before it sometimes crashed on the First instance and always on the second instance). At this point, on the Logon Screen it shows 'Getting in line to connect...' but I have a Windows Error Message -> "lotroclient has stopped working". The Problem Details are the following:

Re: New User - LOTRO Crashes during Login Process - Help Please

While there was an update to Inner Space to support the Happy Cloud version of DDO, it's been reported numerous times in this sub-forum that the Happy Cloud version of LotRO doesn't play nice with Inner Space (and this still may be the case). Your best bet is to uninstall that version and install the normal client instead.

Alternatively, you can also try out the development build of Inner Space by choosing Patcher, Download Test Patches (or something along those lines), and then restarting Inner Space to let it patch up.

Re: RESOLVED!

Thank you VERY VERY MUCH for your prompt and accurate response!

I was suspicious about the Happy Cloud client but decided to wait for a reply before I uninstalled it. I UNinstalled it and InnerSpace is now much more stable and is working as I would expect it to.

Thanks again!
