broadcasting to selected clients

While i know , how to make specified action groups only to broadcast, in EVE, there are always cases , when you need to make teams right on the spot.
Or for example, if i lost one of my ships, the only way to stop him jumping all over region is to log off him.

Is there any specified button for doing such machinations?

Re: broadcasting to selected clients

The easiest thing to do at the moment is put your clients in an Action Target Group (ATG), broadcast to this ATG, and then use the Mapped Key Wizard to set up an "Action Target Group Toggler" (after you pick a Key Map to put your Hotkey in, it asks what kind of key to make, and this is one of the options).

It sounds like you've already seen this: HOWTO: Broadcast to specific sets of windows
All you need after that is an Action Target Group Toggler. :)

Re: broadcasting to selected clients

If I understood the OP's situation correctly, this does not exactly solve the problem.

The scenario would be as such for example in my case; one ship (out of six) getting critically low on shield/armor (health) and needing urgently to flee and heal until such moment that I can safely recall it back to battle. Until that point the ship in question needs to be absolutely immune to all broadcasts.

With cursory examination of the ATG process, it seems that the solution is broadcaster driven, not broadcastee. So effectually I would have to create 6^2 hotkeys just to cover the possible combinations of near to death ships to flee, and that's just not handy or intuitive at all.

Instead, do we have already some feature built in to mask the broadcastee in question from receiving commands? A clickable region would be the most fluid way, I'd think. If it's not in yet, could it be implemented easily enough in the next build?

p.s. huge emphasis on the _cursory_ examination of ATG, might have to come back and shout in joy that you were way ahead of me :)

Re: broadcasting to selected clients

There's any number of ways to accomplish this. Generally speaking:

Create an ATG "Healthy Ships." Instead of sending Mapped Keys to Window: All w/Current, you will now send Mapped Keys to Group(all of/others in): Health Ships.

You will then need Mapped Keys to join and leave "Healthy Ships" at will. The easiest method is make a clickbar/menu with 6 buttons and a 2 Step Mapped Key assigned to each button:

Step 1: Leave "Healthy Ships"
Step 2: Join "Healthy Ships"

Then when someone is dieing, you click out of the ATG, warp them away and they will just sit there doing nothing.

You an even further expand upon this such that when leaving "Healthy Ships" they join "Damaged Ships" and instead of taking combat actions they take repair actions.

Re: broadcasting to selected clients

Way ahead of me, as I suspected :D

Made a single shared "ok"/"no" button for each client targeted at current window, that toggles the broadcastee ATG on and off. Works like a charm, thanks.

Took a while to wrap my head around the menus and the underlying logic, but that was very good training for creating more sophisticated things in the future.
