Weird PC crash issue

I am unsure where or what logs i should post with this issue, as it seems to sit outside the normal client crashes.

What is occuring for me is as follows...

I can log in 6 Everquest Accounts and have them all on character select screen, no issues. This is from a Load Character Set which has 6 sessions.

I can log in 3 or 4 characters into world with this, and do what ever i do normally for various amounts of time. Longest being about 2 hours until which point my PC basically dies. Lights are on and no one is home. There is no bluescreen or anything between functioning to as if the power has been shut off. My monitor takes a few seconds to decide there is no signal being sent. Power reset and boot up PC again is path I can take from this situation.

Now...

I can log in 6 characters to character select, if i load in all 6 into world... i get the above crash situation almost instantly. Longest it has been in is maybe 1 minute.

If i load only 3 characters up and have them in world, i don't seem to have this issue or it is yet to occur in the time frame I have sat down and played.

The setup I have is very basic, its all the default options really. Not added in clickbars/key maps etc.

I don't have any of the fancy window layouts, only the one main region on top with taskbar showing. the defaults 60/30 FPS and the round-robin balance CPU Strategy.

This PC crash hasn't ever occured before, and only occurs while Innerspace is running my EQ sessions. I can normally load up as many EQ sessions as i lik and not have any issues except overall performance issues.

If any help can be provided/or need anyting specific to help let me know, really would like to work his out as i just paid for ISBoxer sub and it doesn't seem to co-operate :(

Re: Weird PC crash issue

It obviously sounds like a hardware problem and you should begin by listing your PC specs.

Window 7 Home premium (64Bit)

Mainboard: Gigabyte - GA EX58 UD4P Rev 1.0
CPU: i7 920
RAM: 12GB Kingston DDR3 1066 i think? operates in triple channel
PSU: I have no idea what brand it is, was a cheaper replacement. it's 800W im pretty sure.
Video: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Sata2 HDD: Run all programs off of Primary HDD Western Digital 500GB, have 2 Seagate 1TB storage drives and 1 DVD Burner

I do have MagicISO services running to enable/disable the virtual drives. I have turned off/uninstalled any active anti malware software/other stuff which i thought could affect ISBoxer operation.
I use on board sound (sound disabled for EQ though), on board network etc. The only add on device is the Video card.

Not sure which is going to be most helpfull, or if anything else would stand out as being culprit?

Re: Weird PC crash issue

Nothing immediately jumps out, but that's not to say you still might be pushing your hardware too much when playing a full team of characters. If you're playing with your video settings set to a high setting you may be overloading your GPU and/or your PSU might not be able to supply the power required by your GPU. I'll assume your GPU has 1GB of memory, and with multiple EQ clients, you may be pushing it pretty hard if your settings are turned up too high.

You can try disabling automatic restarts so that if there is a blue screen you can actually see it:

You can also monitor the load that's being put on your hardware when multiboxing:
http://isboxer.com/wiki/HOWTO:Tweak_you ... ottlenecks

I would first see what the load is when you're playing only 3 characters and then add more after that so that you can compare numbers.

Re: Weird PC crash issue

Oddly my pagefile was disabled, im struggling to think why that was the case as I cannot remember doing that it must of been so long ago. I imagine just running out of RAM was causing the crash. Odd how ever that it only occured when running the 6 instances with ISBoxer and never occured while running 6 outside of ISBoxer.

Being prompted to enable it when turning off automatic restart was helpfull, so in a round about way you fixed my issue in 2 posts thanks MiRai ! :)

I loaded all 6 characters and played fine for 90 minutes, frustration has subsided and I see a lot more EQ in the near future :P
