Link Constantly Breaking

I just got this software today and set it up for World of Warcraft.

Every time I get in any fight, I have Jamba tell me the link is broken. I'm constantly having to press alt F. I notice if I don't go right up to a MOB, then the other character will sit there doing nothing.

So far, it's kinda a pain in the ass to be honest. I don't see how anyone could possibly do this in PvP. I'm just trying to do basic things like leveling up though.

I'm constantly spamming alt F in other words because the link breaks multiple times every fight.... a fight lasting 10 seconds.

FAQ: Why do my guys stop auto-following when I fight something?

You don't mention what classes you are playing but if they are melee you will probably want to use Interact with Target (IWT). That is covered in the WoW Quick Start Guide.

I've had this EXACT SAME THING happen on both a range and a melee class.

Constant Pressing Alt F every time I get in combat. ... constantly. total BS.

I appreciate your reference to something I've gone over countless times already. It doesn't help me keep from pressing ALT F to keep the team together CONSTANTLY.

No need to get testy with Alge for trying to help you...

Everyone who multiboxes WoW deals with the issue you are describing.

It is built into WoW to break auto-follow during combat. When you melee, or when you use a channeled spell (this is the only
reason your ranged would break follow, if they are not meleeing), follow breaks.

Typically during non-PVP combat, you don't need to worry about it because your target isn't running circles around you. You can just run slightly past the mob with your tank, turn around, and the mob is between you and your followers.

During PVP combat and especially with melee teams, you can use Interact with Target to make your guys move to your target.

Regarding having to re-auto-follow after combat, some people like the Jamba Addon's auto-follow after combat feature. Personally, I leave this feature of Jamba disabled, and I manually hit my follow Hotkey (which by the way doesn't have to be Alt+F, you can make it something more convenient to you if you want).

The Jamba Addon also has a follow strobing feature, which can keep re-following every second or so. If you have the Jamba Addon, ISBoxer can toggle this feature with Shift+Alt+F.

Do this without ISBoxer:

Take two characters, put one on follow to your lead toon.

Go out somewhere, have a beast/NPC attack your follower, then see if your follower is still on follow???

If not, then that's how the game goes with the /follow It's not BS IMO, because if they auto followed you no matter what, then that would be automation, which is against the EULA and ToS over at Blizzard, which ISBoxer works as intended, and I would take my time if I were you and not get upset over something that happens in game regardless if you box or not while on /follow :)

I like pressing the alt+f IMO, it ensures the team is on follow no matter entering combat or not. :)

To be fair, auto-refollowing is an unprotected Lua function in WoW's Addon API and this is why the Jamba Addon can continuously re-follow without violating the EULA or Terms of Service. :)

Yeah but I would be careful in that aspect (never know what Blizzard may say sometime now / in the future)

Example: Since they don't like premades of 6+ anymore within their BGs (Preform AV Addon was broken intentionally as of 5.1 patch by Blizzard Developers protecting "cry babies that face premades") however they don't do much vs their botters in the battlegrounds.

Anyhow that's a whole new hot topic lately over on the Blizzard BG forums, but oQueue addon has that covered with a bit of countdown happening.

I factored anything with an automated fact to be against their ToS so if auto-following would be that's why I don't have that enabled :)

It has been an unprotected function for a long time and if Blizzard didn't like it, they'd change it. Blizzard doesn't ban for legitimate add-ons and if an add-on is doing something that they don't like, they just protect (block from public use) the functions said add-ons utilize so that they inadvertently break.

Re: Link Constantly Breaking

Almost everything has been said but I want to put my 2 cents regarding the 'annoying part of the process'.

1. Turn off 'follow broken' warning on Jamba.
2. Change your follow key from ALT-F to F (ALT-F is not confortable for the purpose, imo). You'll soon, even playing solo, will find yourself pressing it after a fight ;)

Re: Link Constantly Breaking

Or map follow to a mouse thumb button, which can be pressed (or spammed) as you drive with the mouse.

Melee combat, channeling a spells (whether Penance/Tranquility to Heal or Mind Flay to kill) or similar effects break follow.
This includes the Interact With Target keybind.

If you don't use any channel effects.
Don't turn on auto attack.
And don't suffer any knockback effects.
Follow shouldn't disengage.

But if it does as an effect of how the game works... you have to re-engage it.

If you don't like that, you can use Strobe Follow from Jamba, as previously mentioned.
But most people don't like how Strobe works, so pick your poison.
