How do you guys best IWT? (all opinions please!)

Hi there,

So after posting on this board yesterday and getting the help I needed very quickly, I thought I'd try another thing I need help with! 2 things below:

Thing 1

My new setup is Paladin (tank), 3x Hunters and another Paladin (healer).

Is there an easy way to get the hunters as well as the healer to stop slightly out of melee range by, for example, hitting F?

And then, once combat ends, to get them to follow again? or is that a case of hitting a follow button?

Thing 2

With melee setups, how do you guys manage the melee part to IWT?

I currently have IWT set up to Alt + G as in the guide by MiRai, and it works fine for questing. However for melee, it feels like I would need to constantly be hitting Alg + G to remain in range, especially in PvP. What's the trick to doing it effectively? binding IWT to a more often used key? or am I missing an option which keeps my melee characters in range of my target without having to spam the key?

I would really appreciate any advice.

Andy

FAQ: How can I stop my guys from following me?
There is an option in the Jamba addon (if you use it) to auto-follow after combat. You can even set a delay if you like. Personally I just map a thumb button on my mouse to Alt+F and am in the habit of hitting that when combat ends or any other time I want my team to follow the master.

You can try the follow strobing option in Jamba to keep your melee characters in range. I find having to toggle strobing on and off more pain than gain and your slaves are not guaranteed to be in range of your master's target. However, my understanding is that in PvP people add IWT in to their spam keys or their DPS keys. I'll leave the details of how to best accomplish that to someone who PvPs. The basic idea is that you leave Click to Move On on your slaves all the time and just send the IWT keybind with a Keystroke Action.

This post by Ualaa on dual-boxing.com addresses both these issues in some detail.

Re: How do you guys best IWT? (all opinions please!)

I've used the auto follow feature (I think it was in ISBoxer, not Jamba?) but didn't realise it was auto follow after combat, I thought it was just when I switched characters! If it's built in, that would solve my issues.

Thanks, I'd seen that post before but it's actually his original post I have just found which is most useful to me!

If I add IWT to all my DPS keys (which are from the list in my other post, about 20 binds) would that be a good idea, or cause more issues than it would fix?

Re: How do you guys best IWT? (all opinions please!)

The method listed, adds IWT to any toon in your melee group, on all of your spam keys.
As in, you add the IWT to the keys you spam...

If a toon is in the melee group, they get IWT.
If they're not in the melee group, they don't.
Put melee toons into the melee group, but don't put casters there unless you want them in melee range while you DPS.

There is a toggle.
When the toggle is set to On, melee toons IWT on presses of the spam key.
When the toggle is set to Off, no gets IWT on presses of the spam key.
Set the toggle to the desired behavior.

If you press a DPS key once, the melee toons will move towards the target's location (at the time of the press).
If you have a caster in the group, they'll nuke the mob and it will move to the caster (changing its position).
If DPS is not spammed (pressed once), once the melee get to the location, they'll stand there.
If DPS is spammed, your melee will overrun the location and run back to the new location (over-running that one too).
Once the mob dies, your melee will often run in whatever direction IWT/CTM sent them.

You need to deal with "run-aways", if you spam IWT... or have your DPS Spam key spam it for you.
A slave-only spread out key, or slave independent movement (copy Others Jump, but for say Down Arrow) will end their movement.
Mapping FTL Follow Me, to a mouse thumb button is a good option too, I use that.
You can always IWT a new target, including a corpse if it is lootable.
The range on IWT is close to 3x further than the range on /Follow.
