Macro Library How to Guide?

Hello,

First off many thanks to the makers of this kick-a** toolset.

I am currently playing WoW and have seen many posts in regards to switching from in game macros to using them from within isBoxer, which I am assuming is through the use of the macros in the Game Helper section. I have read several pages including:

World of Warcraft Macro Library http://isboxer.com/wiki/Game_Helpers
WoW:Macro http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Macro
Named World of Warcraft Macro Action http://isboxer.com/wiki/Named_World_of_Warcraft_Macro_Action

For what ever reason (Probably being dense) I am still lost in the sauce. IS there by chance a video or text guide with an example of using a macro from isboxer with the setup in game as well as in isboxer?

Re: Macro Library How to Guide?

The WoW Macro Library sets up your collection of macros. It will bind macros to key combos in the game automatically for you, on whichever Characters you specify. It cannot bind macros to key combos reserved by your Action Bars, like "1" "2" etc; if you want a macro on an Action Bar, create it in the game and drag it to the bar.

Using a wow macro is done with a Mapped Key. A Mapped Key is how you have ISBoxer do anything, like broadcast "1", "2" etc when you press a Hotkey. In most typical cases, when you need to set up a Mapped Key, you can use the Mapped Key Wizard as described in WoW Quick Start Guide: Quickly add many hotkeys, optionally with auto-assist.

As I was writing this, it occurred to me that Named WoW Macros were not yet built into the Mapped Key Wizard. I have corrected that as of now -- ISBoxer version 40.4.0920.1 is available via Help->About with a "Named WoW Macro" option in the Mapped Key Wizard. Selecting this option will allow you to set up a Mapped Key for sending a Named WoW Macro to some window(s). The Named WoW Macro must already exist in the WoW Macro Library, and it should have a Key Combination assigned. (The wizard will indicate this; also, a new grayed-out Key Combination box will show you the key combo from the WoW Macro to help make this abundantly clear in the wizard as well as in Named WoW Macro Actions.) And, as should be obvious from using the WoW Macro Library, the WoW Macro Set should be assigned to the Characters that need to have the macro loaded.

Finally, any time you make changes to WoW macros through ISBoxer, you will need to /console reloadui after Exporting to Inner Space. Your WoW macros are installed by the ISBoxer Addon, which needs to be reloaded, either by that command or by logging out to the character selection screen.

So....
To use a WoW Macro that's already set up in the game:
1. Use the Mapped Key Wizard and that's pretty much it (it will set up a Mapped Key that uses a Keystroke Action)
2. Export to Inner Space after making changes in order to activate them

To set up and use a WoW Macro entirely through ISBoxer:
1. Define your WoW Macro in a WoW Macro Set in the WoW Macro Library. Make sure it has a Key Combination if you want to initiate it from an ISBoxer Hotkey. The "/click name" can be used to initiate it from
2. Make sure the WoW Macro Set is assigned to the Characters that will need the WoW Macro (this can be done on a per-Character Set, or per-Character basis, by specifically highlighting them; you do this by selecting the WoW Macro Set itself in the WoW Macro Library!)
3. After changing any WoW Macros in ISBoxer, and after you Export to Inner Space, make sure you /console reloadui in the game to reload the ISBoxer Addon, which installs the WoW Macros. Exporting will create (update) the Addon, and /console reloadui will make the game reload it.
4. Use a Named WoW Macro Action to send the key combo that's assigned to the WoW Macro. You can use the Mapped Key Wizard to do set this up, with the 'Named WoW Macro' option; doing so will let you pick a Hotkey to push to activate the macro (Which does not need to, and in most cases will not, match what the WoW Macro is assigned to).
5. Export to Inner Space after making changes in order to activate them

To set up and use a WoW Macro Action in ISBoxer:
1. Don't. This method has been replaced by the WoW Macro Library and Named WoW Macro Action. At this point it's just available backwards compatibility.
2. Set up the macro either in the WoW Macro Library or in the game
3. Use one of the other 2 methods above to set up and use the macro

So with the generating the Mapped key through the wizard and choosing my Named WoW Macro this was a breeze. My test example was to send Thunderstorm to my SHAM ATG with Round Robin. Through the wizard this was pretty much rock proof as I just had to choose from drop downs and check a box or two. My other issue was that I had missed the assignment of the macro set to the correct character set.

Thanks much for taking the time with this write up.
