I actually came to this forum after getting isboxer up and running today. Act 1 I didnt seem to lag to horribly, but then once i entered act 2 I was lagging beyond playable.
I was hoping to find more threads similar to this, to find every last tip and trick I possibly can to better my performance.
I am running an EVGA 680i NF68 motherboard with a q6600 quad core cpu, 4GB memory(2x2GB dual channel), and a single evga 480 gtx graphics card. I really just want to do all that I can to make the game run as well as I possibly can. An I7 system upgrade is planned, but the build I have planned out is going to cost around $1500, and its going to have to wait for a few months, so anything I can do to get by with what I have I would like to do.
I actually did find some information for making Diablo 3 run better in general, on the battle.net diablo 3 general forums, it all seemed to help to a degree, instead of 10fps i get about 30 on my main window:
Open d3prefs.txt(also the ones created by isboxer) (in my documents\Diablo III)
Setting HardwareClass "1"
Setting sound channels to 16
Then
Nvidia control panel, 3d settings, manage 3d settings
+maximum pre-rendered frames = 1
+Triple Buffering off
+Vertical Sync off
+Threaded optimisation off
SEPERATE GAME FOLDERS PER INSTANCE (I read this helps but have not tried this one)
Another thing I have read is that having a SSD hard drive can speed up lag you get during resource loading, like when your walking along and encoutering new monsters for that level, although it wont improve your average framerate much, just when you get a hickup from new things loading. I actually ordered a SSD plextor M3 128GB today in an attempt to help things, cant wait till it arrives.
