I am using the development build, windows vista 64

The first intance of LOTRO will launch normally but the second instance will not, it gets an Unspecified patch error in the Examine Game Data step.

You can start more than one instance if you start them from different directories.
I think Lotro makes more registry entries as before because as I started an instance from a new folder Windows asked me for admin rights.
I hope the developer of Innerspace find a solution.

Re: Siege of Mirkwood doesn't like Innerspace/ISBoxer

I am running Windows Vista 64 and had the same problem on starting character set: first logon started but not correctly, second logon never started. On manually starting second one, got the patch error.

I followed the instructions to download the developmental patch. The first logon started up, switched to the other monitor like it should, and the second logon started up but did not load. I got the same patch error with a red x.

How do you start LOTRO from different directories?

I am running in Windows XP. There could be a bug too in the Mirkwood patch that prevents two instances of the game running on one PC. Before the expansion, I can manually start a launcher, log in, then start another. Now, when I do this, I get this error on the second launcher:

If I use InnerSpace now, the first game instance launches but never expands to a full window like it did before, and the second instance is a no-show. My game is set to non-full-screen as default, and InnerSpace expands it to full screen after a login.

Howdy:

Windows XP here, also. I don't have a problem switching to Windows 7, so I'll give that a shot tonight (after backing everything up first, of course).

Re: Siege of Mirkwood doesn't like Innerspace/ISBoxer

My patcher error looks same as what chuvakuhn posted (am using vista 64 ultimate)

Prior to the update you could launch multiple instances of the game with or without IS (originally LOTRO required multiple directories but they fixed that at some point). I will try going back to old method of copying the lotro directory and launching from the different locations.

If that does work, is there a way to tell ISBoxer to launch characters within the same character set from different directory locations?

Re: Siege of Mirkwood doesn't like Innerspace/ISBoxer

I am running XP 32 bit and I am seeing what has been described in this thread.

I have tried using both TurbineLauncher.exe and TurbineInvoker.exe to run the game from IS, both of which give the same results. The launcher starts and gets to the patching programs portion and then silently closes without any errors.

There is a .config file for TurbineLauncher (TurbineLauncher.exe.config) that I tried making a couple of changes to. In that file I changed "safemode" from "true" to "false" and then started my char set from IS. Apparently, that setting causes the patcher to download a fresh copy of the launcher so at the point where is is checking programs for updates, it downloads the launcher and then wants to restart. Upon restart, the launcher gets to the login portion and then will actually run the game, but IS does not attach (no FPS indicator, game window not put in the proper position, etc...). I am not sure what if anything this will add to the process of finding and fixing the problem, but it is interesting that the launcher does not crash in this case.

I hope to get a solution soon, I really miss my multi-boxing, and all the more so with Mirkwood awaiting...

Cheers,

Re: Siege of Mirkwood doesn't like Innerspace/ISBoxer

The solution is quiet simple.
Copy Lotro in different folders (as how often as you will run instances on your computer).
Start Innerspace and use the menu "add Game".
Add a game maybe called Lotro2 and direct it to one of the new folders of Lotro.
Repeat it for every instance.

Start ISBoxer and load your config.
Go to characters. Set for each char a different game (Lotro1, Lotro2, ...) so each char is loaded from a different directory.

Thats it! And it works because you can start multible instances of Lotro if they are in different directories. :-)
