How big of a team to just enjoy content

Hello,

I posted the following message over on dual-boxing, but never got any response. Hoping that someone will respond here to give me an idea on minimum team size needed to see all of the epic story line.

====================================================================

Hello,

I'm looking for someone that can provide me with some LOTRO advice. I originally starting playing LOTRO with some friends, but they gave up after a while for whatever reasons. I leveled a guardian to level 37 and really enjoyed the game. The game is just beautiful beyond words and so big. I've never played any other game like it before.

So I'm going to go back and play it with a multiboxing team to see all the great content. I'm not interested in PvP. I might try some instances or skirmishes, but I primarily just want to enjoy the content and the epic storyline.

Six accounts means quite a dollar investment in that I'll probably go ahead and buy the Isengard expansion in order to go all the way to 75 as well as to get the many lower level expansion packs available. Six accounts also means doing a whole lot of boring collection quests along the way which really can drag down the enjoyment of the game.

I'm also not real sure on healing in this game. I've five boxed WoW with no problems using many addons with no problems. I've multiboxed Rift using a mage healer with no problems; but the bard class in LOTRO looks like it could be difficult to manage after tinkering with it last night. The same applies to the rune keeper class after a short time trying it.

So my questions are, do I need six accounts to enjoy the epic storyline? I remember several times in zones that had areas with elites and group quests that required several people to complete like the taking of weathertop for example. And for those with healing experience, what would be a recommendation for a healing class to handle the same content?

I would really appreciate comments and recommendations.

I realise this is an old post, but I will answer it anyway for the benefit of anyone else who reads this later...

You no longer need to multi-box to enjoy the Lotro Epic storyline as a solo (i.e. non-grouped) player, as Turbine has now revamped the entire Epic storyline to be soloable.

All landscape quests are also now largely soloable and it is easy now for players to solo to end-game using landscape quests and/or skirmishes. Formerly fellowship-oriented landscape areas like Angmar have been revamped to remove most Elite mobs or replace them with Signature mobs. For those landscape Fellowship areas that remain e.g. Dol Dinen in the North Downs, a full 6-character fellowship isn't needed. You easily can 3-man those on-level or solo them when you're quite a bit higher level. The Rise of Isengard expansion (level 65-75 zones) includes no fellowship-oriented landscape areas, and a level 75 character can solo the level 65 Elites in Enedwaith (level 65 zone) - and in fact you could solo those at level 65 if you took your time, were well-geared or were playing a Warden. So... multi-boxing isn't needed for the Lotro PvE landscape. You can easily complete it all solo.

All non-raid instances in Lotro are now 3-man or 6-man instances (e.g. the 4-man instances were revamped). Skirmishes can be solo, duo, 3-man, 6-man or raid 12-man.

So I think for multi-boxing in Lotro, you're probably going to base your decision on whether you want to multi-box 3-man or 6-man instances i.e. 3-character or 6-character teams.

PS - Re your healing question. My non-boxing main is a Captain and I can easily heal 3-man instances and some 6-man instances. Minstrels and Rune-Keepers can both heal 3-man and 6-man instances with ease. They have different trade-offs, so you'll need to do some research and decide which would suit you best. I have used both with success at end-game and would happily use either.
