? on Facing/Direction.

In LOTRO, I often have a problem with the slave characters pointing every which way, .. this can present issues when in hurried or frantic combat, you can't always stop to say .. hmm okay I need to turn this one that way and that one this way. even with hot key's mapped to do so. I've tried the options in game for having them turn to face . depending on skills etc. and even auto turn to target attacker.. these both seem in-efficient to me. especially when I want the whole group targeting the same mob. At present I use a combination of a quick follow command then move forward a bit to (hopefully) help align them in a direction. then usually tab the master client to nearest target .. 90% of the time they target it thru the master via forwarding. the other 10 they have some other target and aggro multiple mobs . I've also tried an alternative of shift tabbing = all the slaves targeting nearest target.. which can work .though clumsily.

What I'm asking is, is there a way to have all the slave characters come together in a tight group as close as possible to each other (and to the master character/ or a specified point via mouse click or something?)) all facing the same way.? (I know that when you do the follow, at times they will get almost on top of each other.. that would be fine if they did it every time and faced the same direction)

I don't know if a formation can handle this? or a long series of actions.. I'm still fairly new at ISBoxer.

Assistance is appreciated.!

Re: ? on Facing/Direction.

For melee characters you can use the 'USE' key ('U' if memory serves) on almost everything. The toons will run up to the target and do something to it. really useful for mailboxes and vendors.

A press/release key that sends 'U' to the toons (assuming they have the proper target), then 'S' on the release to make them stop running might do the trick. You'd have to hold the key long enough for them to turn around though. YMMV, I haven't tried it out.

I'll have to try that with my melee set, Thank you for the idea, not sure how I'll handle the issue with my hunter set though, I definitely Don't want them running up to the target! lol

Re: ? on Facing/Direction.

My goal is to try to keep the mobs in front my ranged toons. When I'm approaching a mob I want to kill, all of my toons have my main targeted. They are all on follow mode. I get within 20 meters or so and I have them stop following (send 'S' to all other clients so they take a step back and disengage follow mode). I run in and get agro and turn the mob around so it's back is towards my group. I then have another button which only sends to my melee classes. It sends 'R' on the press (which is assist on my setup. So all melee classes now have my main's target as their own target) and it sends the follow command to them on the release. This will make them follow the mob around. When the fight is over, I make sure my melee classes are targeting my main again so follow will work.

For when a mob gets behind my group for whatever reason, I have a set of buttons that lets me move the group. I use the numeric keypad for this. The keys for movement for my main, QWEASD, are duplicated to the keypad using 789456, to all clients but my main. So I can continue my skill rotations and movement with my left hand and my right hand can slide from my mouse to the number pad and adjust my groups facing direction and/or position. Take a little practice getting used to handling two things at once, but it works pretty well.

That's my solution. Hope it helps.
