You can't expect anyone who dislikes and/or refuses to understand how multiboxing works to act in an intelligent way -- Ever. Even the WoW subreddit refuses to embrace any sort of educational multiboxing material regardless of the fact that Blizzard has allowed and defended the playstyle for an entire decade. I'm not saying the mods of /r/WoW will automatically ban multiboxing-related material when it's the main focus of the thread, but you get the same drivel and uneducated responses from most of the reddit users as you see on the general forums -- It's a just no-win situation.

I personally think you're trying too hard to bring multiboxing into the limelight when it's better off in the corner out of sight and out of mind of most haters who will pick it apart for something that it's not.

I know for myself I've stayed out of the multiboxing arguments that have been raging on the eve forums for a long time. I think we all took a similar approach of staying in the background and hoping that whatever current problem would blow over.

However it appears that despite our best intentions were let the vocal minorities win the battle so far and they have succeeded in getting part of the toolset used banned.

So now what do we do? Cower in the corner hoping that ccp doesn't keep taking the axe to our playstyle? That doesn't seem like it will work...

you need to face a little reality here and understand that to a large number of people, that multiboxing to them is the same as botting and your never going to change their minds, the more fuss you make, the more they are going to react.

from what I have seen and read, eve still supports Isboxer and multiboxing, they have stated that quiet clearly that in their announcements, its just the broadcasting that they don't want to happen anymore, CCP have too much support over this decision by the Eve community and you are not going to change it ATM.

Just stop prodding the Eve natives, they are restless enough, all your doing is providing more ammunition to the people who want to ban us all together.

I didn't say don't defend the multiboxing playstyle when people call it something that it isn't, but I would have been amazed had the moderators allowed a link to multiboxing in the sidebar of their subreddit. Both of their responses you've shown only go toward reinforcing everything I said in my prior post about trying to educate those who refuse to educated.

Game developers like Blizzard and CCP come out and say -- publicly state on their own forums -- that software-assisted multiboxing is an acceptable form of gameplay, but there are so many mindless people who refuse to accept that statement for whatever reason they can muster up because they're afraid of it, and being a multiboxer is sort of like putting yourself in the shoes of a minority ethnic race in the United States just a few decades ago -- Probably still today in some parts of this country.

I believe that if you want others to accept multiboxing then you have to show that it can help the community in some way, rather than hurt it, and that people shouldn't fear it. In a game like World of Warcraft you might just be that guy who helps carry others through some old raid content for whatever loot they might want, or maybe you use your ability to kill enemies at a much faster pace to farm something that is sought after and then practically give it away for cheap rather than try to gouge everyone on prices, or maybe you set up some roleplay-type of interaction between your characters to make others laugh and show them a good time, or maybe you offer a bodyguard-like service on a PvP realm to others in your spare time for free. Those are just some general examples, but in the realm of EVE I have no idea how one would accomplish that since it's an entirely different game.

For EVE Multiboxers do a similar thing to allow people to do content that wouldn't be possible else wise.

Their biggest assistance probably comes with the economy though, I shudder to think how expensive things might get without multiboxing.

We've stayed quiet and in the background for a long time, all that did as I stated above was give the other side the entire time opportunity to craft and wage war against our play style with zero opposition from us.
